Ian
Up in college right now -- but from what totals/pictures I've seen, and from reading this thread, I take it this is worse than June 2006? June 2006 is my all-time rainfall event. I think it is in spots at least. Today is running at top of known for some spots probably. 15"+ growing quick.. Storms barely moving. Even Woodbridge 12"+ on the event now. Rubbing it into Jebmans early call for the storm.

Jebman
It has been pouring for two hours now in Dale City. We have picked up over 5 inches just TODAY. Storms barely moving. Even Woodbridge 12"+ on the event now. Rubbing it into Jebmans early call for the storm. Thanks. I remember in 2006 the IRS, National Archives, some of the Smithsonian buildings, etc. had to close, and disaster aid was requested in many MD counties. I don't remember the exact duration though, as this event has spanned four days (though obviously the worst/brunt of it has been the past 48 hours). I'm sure the ground was also at least partly still saturated in many spots from Irene, which couldn't have helped obviously.

BethesdaWX
Looks like we're drying out atm, 7.11" for the event, probably the heaviest I could ever fathom. Stuff building down south though probably won't be able to budge much due to flow & microscale dynamics.

snowdude
Insane rainfall rates going on In Dale City. Route 1 in Dumfries, in Prince William County is flooded. Some cars are stuck and submerged. If this continues I wouldn't be surprised if schools are delayed or closed tomorrow. Jebman
This excessive insane rain is reminding me of September 5, 1979 when we had 6 foot high creek floods next to Pitkin's in Dale City, in Center Plaza. I live right behind, in west Glendale If only I could muster up the courage to go on an historic jebwalk down there. There is simply too much rain
