adelphi_sky
The Ianado of 9/8/2011 In the meantime - looks like DC will get shafted this go around - cutting west of the city. What goes west, eventually comes back east.

Ian
What goes west, eventually comes back east. not necessarily.. the low is retrograding west a bit as it weakens. it's definitely a lot less clear cut today than yesterday regarding prolonged heavy rains. catoctin wx
I got 0.40" since 8:00 this morning which puts me at 3.65" since Saturday night. I don't remember if it rained last Thursday or Friday which would add to my total. For once we are in the sweet spot. Glad I put down all that grass seed on Monday morning

TradeWinds
already got more true downpours in the last hour than we got Mon through Wed combined. More humid out today also.
TradeWinds
What part of Frederick are you in....I've gotten just over 4"of rain since Sunday. I'm in Ballenger Creek. My gauge is in the middle of the yard free from any splash from trees or roof. It is a townhouse yard but the direction the rain is falling wouldn't block it. Ian
looks like the 2% torn line went west a tad maybe in new spc update ...DELMARVA... VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY AND HIGH-RESOLUTION RADAR DATA SHOW THAT FRONTAL SEGMENT FROM S/SE OF LONG ISLAND INTO SERN PARTS OF MD/DE IS SLOWLY BEING DRAWN SWD/SEWD...DUE IN PART TO THE INCREASING INFLUENCE OF KATIA. WITH TIME...LOW-LEVEL FLOW FIELD WILL BECOME MORE ELY...POTENTIALLY ALLOWING SEGMENT OF BAROCLINIC ZONE FROM SERN MD/DE INTO SERN VA TO SHIFT FARTHER INLAND. THE COMBINATION OF A VERY MOIST AIR MASS E OF THIS BOUNDARY AND PRONOUNCED DIRECTIONAL SHEAR IN THE LOW LEVELS WILL RESULT IN AN ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTIVE OF WEAK STORM ROTATION. MN Transplant
Funny that the streamer is setting up right where some of the lowest totals close-in to the Metro had been. Now up to 4.6" for the event at my house.
Ian
almost looks like a dry-line. Very bizarre though, I don't think I have seen anything like that in the northeast before i think it's more a mid/upper lvl lobe of drier air. it's definitely not a surface dry line looking at obs.
