Kmlwx
Yeah, as long as the band moves due North, we'll be on the western fringe. It's a very interesting pattern. If we can one or two more of these waves tonight and tomorrow, I believe we'll approach 5". Then I'll gripe about all the mowing next week! Your lawn will turn to mud! lol
Ian
that cell is still rotating away.. just not that strongly. not sure it can now that it's been bunched up in the line a while. 5 torn warning bet maybe too good an over/under.
ksstormhunter
Just pushed a 02Z SmartCast output for PA area. Seeing potential for more heavy rain across the Williamsport area. Around another 1.13" possible in the next 6 hours Also other areas across the PA/VA amounts of .50 to .75 for the next 6 hours. southmdwatcher
4.65 inches in cocorahs gauge since 8am storm total is 7.29 inches, standing water in neighborhood is similar to Eloise/Agnes, rain still ongoing.
jacindc
Looks like that batch coming up to just about Colonial Beach might merge together to nullify the DC Split.
mattie g
This is a pretty insane event. I don't recall incessant training like this before, especially during two distinct times in less than 24 hours. It's been pouring for the last 30 minutes or so, with constant lighter rains prior. I haven't been measuring, so I have no idea how much rain we've had. All I know is that I'm glad we live on an incline about 15-20' above the lowest section of our neighborhood, which just happens to have a creek running next to it. Sparky
some 10"+ estimates showing up near La Plata (i know it's missing some of the event) the contours this is a unique event. Something akin to June 2006 in the southerly flow with off/on imbedded thunderstorms.
TradeWinds
This is a pretty insane event. I don't recall incessant training like this before, especially during two distinct times in less than 24 hours. This doesn't even compare to June 2006 especially west of 95. Those were unreal rainfall rates.
capitalweather
This doesn't even compare to June 2006 especially west of 95. Those were unreal rainfall rates. I agree - June 2006 was more extreme dc and west - although maybe not east of dc

real
It seems like Baltimore City and County have been getting pounded non-stop for weeks with flash flooding. They had several thunderstorms in August basically stall out over top of them. .. Looks like they cashed in up there as well today... Look at this. real
But now that it's merged into one band, that is one solid funnel of water aimed straight up Interstate 95.

Stormpc
5.79 so far for the event. Not as much as 5 miles to my east that had 7-8 inches, but still appreciable. Was in Jessup earlier this afternoon. Incredible flooding. I have pics but no time as of yet to downsize. East of DCA looks to jackpot. So much for those maps early yesterday (which were nice). Pityflakes
2.57 for the day. 4.58 for the event. Moderate rain now (.40"/hour). Looks like I'll be socked in for a while, but will hopefully (for the sake of my basement) avoid the heavy stuff for here on out.
