Central PA Fall Thread

Recommended Posts

Heard some reports that the Susq. has crested and is falling (at Harrisburg). Seems quite early compared to what I had been hearing yesterday.

23.88 and falling as we speak - yes faster than anticipated. Still posting a re-crest at 25.2 but ATM that seems dubious.

WNEP is reporting a crest of 42.66 on WBRP1?

Apparently the guage is damaged... I wonder how many guages along Susquehanna are damaged from these record heights

Danville Middle School now under water and apparently wasn't a little over an hour ago. May be levee breach there as well

I'm alive but no power til Subday pm at earliest, says PPL.

There is literally human feces all in the river. Sewage plants upstream is the reason.

River falling but they say it will have a double crest and be about 1/2' higher than the first?!

When you said about the feces, i got the image of when Jackass jumped in the spetic tank at the sewer plant..so cover up if you're going swimming

good to hear from you bro. Best of luck.

I have a hard time believing that double crest. I think they just haven't updated the forecast, which seems odd considering how often they were revising the forecast upward throughout the week.

Is the stench noticeable? I'm thinking my windows might stay closed for a couple of days.

NWS forecaster out of St College - Andre:

Susquehanna at Hbg have crested and not likely to re-crest. West branch volume pushed through before N branch and lessened the expected impact
. Paraphrased quote

Makes total sense and I was wondering if that was not had occurred.

I saw that interview and wondered why they have not updated the forecast on the website. It's been obviously receding since this morning.
