GFS shows that feature as well but scoots it out whereas the CMC wants it to linger a bit.
dan11295
as of 2 pm KMDT is at 9.34" for the event (they have been just west of the heaviest training rain the past few hours). Just a note farther north, KBGM has had 4.13" in past 6 hours.

Just a note farther north, KBGM has had 4.13" in past 6 hours. If this continues KMDT's September precip record will likely fall... currently 14.97" As of 2 PM Harrisburg airport is at 52.87" for the year... making it 5th wettest on record

r-ville
2.2 PWATS and 850mb moisture transport = trouble. And Katia's PWAT is not very far off and those 850 scream into the coast as well. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/new/viewsector.php?sector=19&parm=pmsl#
canderson
Serious question: how do they predict river stages? I know the sensors and gauges are huge players, but you can't just factor rainfall into a river height and all that. It's a science I'd like to know a bit more about. I know the sensors and gauges are huge players, but you can't just factor rainfall into a river height and all that. It's a science I'd like to know a bit more about. I think it's a mathematical model based on a bunch of variables such as watershed size, topography, volume of rain fall and rain fall rate, soil moisture, etc.
CoastalWx
It's possible this band may slowly move east later tonight and tomorrow before possibly more shwrs develop later tomorrow night. We'll have to see how radar trends go because some meso models differ and little weak lows that traverse this front can shift the axis of rain around. dan11295
Was a bit surprised to find that BGM max calendar day rainfall was only 4.05" set on 6/27/06. MDT record is 9.13" set during Agnes and likelt out of reach with the core of that band missing the airport to the east.

Bryan Wood
Is Hershey Park going to go under water? Absolutely. The "Comet Hollow" section of Hersheypark historically has flooded with every major rain event. Knoebel's amusement park is another one that is very flood-prone and will likely see some damage. ValleyPA
Lebanon County here--just got in from picking up my daughter in Cleona--two of the Annville-Cleona bus routes were canceled. Lots of flooding on 422. The organs (electronic) in the basement of the music building at Lebanon Valley College are in ankle-deep water. We have a new pond in our back yard and a bit of water in our basement. It's worse to our west, according to Hershey and Palmyra friends on FB.
