winterwarlock
next dry spell, I never want to hear someone mention..."we really need some rain" the rain always comes, be patient, it never fails, this isnt Texas yet some people panic over a two week dry spell, mother nature always evens things out and usually goes overboard. Just in an overall wet pattern the last 10 or so years. Luckily July was as hot and dry as it was.
bluewave
The GFS has its best moisture to our west today but has been hinting at bringing back the potential for heavier rains tonight.
SACRUS
The GFS has its best moisture to our west today but has been hinting at bringing back the potential for heavier rains tonight. GFS and ECM had tonight/thu pegged very wet while the nam was fairly dry. NAM had the same yesterday so i'd lean with the gfs/ecm how can you go against the wetter solution in this pattern. The dreary/wet week rolls on. The rain/storms moving north out of E-NC and VA may bring that heavy rain later.

earthlight
Limited severe weather potential today over the Mid Atlantic and Southern/Central NJ. Although the severe weather potential may not extend here, the thunderstorm potential may overnight. The SPC has picked up on heavy rain overnight tonight with embedded thunderstorms. earthlight
We will need to wait for the upper ridge to break down before the heavy rain can work into our area again. The models were very good in forecasting rising mid level heights over our area today. Despite the dreary conditions, the upper low cutting off to our west will allow the ridge to build briefly from the western Atlantic back towards the coast. this is part of the reason there is a firehose type rain event going on over the mid Atlantic into central pa as the upper flow is very supportive of training heavy rainfall. the models all have this ridging collapsing again overnight tonight into wednesday morning, so more than likely we are going to see at least a period of moderate rain and/or widespread showers when this happens. earthlight
You can see the 500mb flow on the graphic below..the heaviest rain is occurring west of the mid level ridge which has built back towards the coast. the model have this collapsing tonight.
