SACRUS
Guidance still keeping the heaviest rains west over the next few days. Overall a pretty lousy few days with clouds and on/off again rain/showers but the heavy/flooding rains should be limited around the area (thankfully) and stay west. Maybe lining up for another nice weekend...
bluewave
The NAM is forecasting subsidence around the periphery of Katia on Friday with an offshore flow and temps in the low 80's. It looks like it will be a great day to go down to the beach and check out the really nice swells.

Yeah, the heavier rains can occur closer to the higher PW's than the model QPF's indicate.
Drz1111
I wonder if there isn't a little bit of quasi-coastal transfer going on? It sure looks like a Miller-B type setup on the radar.
earthlight
As mentioned here wave heights could reach 9 to 12 feet along the NJ coast and Long Island as Katia makes her pass to our south and east. I will definitely be headed to the shore to see what it's like. https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/wxmap_cgi/cgi-bin/wxmap_loop.cgi?&area=27km_watl∏=sgwvht&dtg=2011090500&set=SeaState

I was really looking forward to seeing some of the bands. Many people were cleaning up and lost their power so the city cancelled the concerts. The local merchants were really upset since they laid out money to buy extra inventory for the anticipated crowds.
Isotherm
2.5" and counting here in Villanova PA. Also was friggen cold today, compared to the 80 of the weekend, a rude awakening. Barely cracked 60F all day here, flirting with 59F at times with a brisk NE wind. Feels like late October; way too early for this crap.

earthlight
the atmosphere still has a ton of moisture---pw values are still very high. but the rain is beginning it's movement to the north and west of the city and i-95 as the mid level flow is backing to the northwest. notice how when you loop the nam, it builds the 500mb heights from the western atlantic over our area wednesday afternoon and we enter a 700mb dry slot. http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/WRFEAST_18z/wrfloop.html
