ag3
Hot day for mid-September. Newark is up to 84. Normal is 76-77 for a high, so this would be similar to being 93-95 in early August.
NJwinter23
Hows this for your cold front thermal gradient How about a nasty squall line with southeast winds and 1000 j/kg CAPE out ahead of it mid-afternoon Thursday...The GFS of course could not be more different than the NAM for Thursday
PoconoSnow
Hows this for your cold front thermal gradient I would be in the mid 40's while Nyc is in the mid 70's! lol

ag3
Newark at 85. They should be able to get to 87-89 degrees. Tomorrow looks just as hot, before the strong cold front blasts through the area in the evening and drops temps by 20-30 degrees with a strong 35-50mph wind. Stormlover74
Yeah I think unless its cloudy or raining and even then might not matter we get much warmer than the low 70s forecasted. Heck tonight's lows wont be much lower than that. Newark at 85. They should be able to get to 87-89 degrees. CAT5ANDREW
The temp and dewpoint drop tomorrow evening is going to feel more shocking than any outbreak we have seen here in recent memory. You are talking about temps going from the mid 80s with dews in the mid 60s to temps tomorrow night into the 55-60 range with dews dropping into the 50s and 40s with a strong wind.Given the fact that it has been warm and humid for so long, this is only going to add to it. Heck tonight's lows wont be much lower than that. 12z NAM has the whole area into the 80's now tomorrow, before the cold front knocks temps by 20-30 degrees. and then overnight temps plummet to upper 40's; even in NYC, according to the NAM:
easternsnowman
Enjoy the warm temps while you can, this will be pretty much the last of them except for an occasional day here or there.

Stormlover74
Probably our hottest day for the next 8 months....some forecasts are still calling for only low 70s tomorrow which I don't quite get considering we'll have plenty of warming before the front moves through. not to mention our lows tonight won't drop much below 70 88 at ewr now
SnoSki14
I can't recall the last time we had such a strong mid September cold front, usually it's still very warm to hot this time of year, I can't believe were going to rapidly drop into the mid to upper 40s tomorrow night already. Cfa
We just had a quick sunshower. Isn't it almost the anniversary of the twin tornadoes + macroburst? Could tomorrow potentially be a similar event?

Today was beautiful, but I still can't wait until friday and friday night temperatures. Felt pretty humid to me today. Tomorrow will be even more humid until the front clears. I agree that the mid 70's highs are too low. I think most of the area gets to 80-84 degrees before the front crosses in the afternoon.

Now a nice breeze to cool things off. Still thundering, but it's beginning to wind down.
