ski MRG
You missed a roller coaster day of model watching, Pete. How was the skiing? It was fun, always is. I'm not sure I really missed much. It seems we are in about the same place wrt model consensus as we were in the wee hours this morning when I checked in. I'm not sweating it in the least. We've got snow on the ground, we'll get more. It's inevitable, like the sunrise.

moneypitmike
Okay. I'm out, back at 4:30. There are 44 pages in this thread now. If there are fewer than 54 pages when I return in the morning, I'll know things are grim. If there are 64, I'll gas up the snowblower. Have a good one. 18.8/

weatherwiz
NAM doesn't look that good to me. It would still probably be too far west. It looks like it's starting to no negatively tilted with the energy already at 72 HR...?

Baroclinic Zone
Couple things I notice from 18z to 00z. At 72h the ULL in the GOA is further W which knocks down the ridge along the west coast. This in turn should allow the trough to dig further S and E and take on more of a U shape rather than a V.

weatherwiz
well i was going to say the MW shortwave seems further North.....so why is this good? Looks like it would probably phase with the PV too early.
ORH_wxman
Looks good........for Chicago It has a lot of energy digging SE, so its possible that if we could see it out to further frames, it would do something similar to what the 00z Euro did last night...lose a bit of support for the primary as it heads NE and try and develop another low along the front while its still along the coast. That is just speculation though of course.
