We had a nice batch of light rain/drizzle/sprinkles move through earlier and have another batch coming through now. The wedge is screwing us here for precip... :gun_bandana: That being said, I'm excited about seeing an unsettled next couple of days, but the rain amounts, at least locally, won't be all that impressive. Also, that cut-off low will just sit there in the Ohio River Valley for a few days... So the "cooler" air I was hoping for this weekend doesn't look like it's going to come to fruition with westerly flow aloft. :( Oh well! Fall begins Friday!

It was kind of exciting to hear you and Cheez had experienced rain, but when I checked my gauges all I found was evidence of a months worth of dust drizzle, and perhaps one dust shower. I did spot a camel out beyond the back fence though... he looked thirsty :) T

the 12Z ECMWF gives all the Carolinas atleast one inch of rain, and by the time the upper low is gone completely, many get 2" and the coast is favored for a good bit more. Right now I'm not real impressed for my area to get much rain out of this setup so far. I think Friday morning will feature a decent amount of coverage , and maybe another spoke of vort will rotate through either over the weekend or early next week with another round of rain. Otherwise, pretty good rain in training over Alabama and scattered in GA and the central Carolinas, heavily favored though for the coast. The pockets of rain are so scattered it makes it hard for the models to get the areas right. I wouldn't be surprised to see a relative minimum though imby :axe: This makes 5 straight days of clouds, just a few drops of rain today though.

Hickory, NC finally topped 70 degrees, first time since late Thursday, as did my area. Western NC has been dammed up with low clouds and east or northeast winds since late Thursday. Its interesting the highs have been consistently lower than forecast since then as well, ahhh the power of damming. If this area would have seen rain last Friday with the wetbulbs in the upper 40's that would have been something. So the GFS missed the rain (no suprise there) but the temps and wetbulbs were extremely accurate again, from about 5 days out. I think that model has performed very well in some setups, but obviously in the hard core Winter cold patterns its too supressed at times. Like any weather model, you have to know when to buy it , and when not.

I've had enough rain to wet the ground where the trees aren't, and, I'm hearing thunder off to the south. Thanks, Justin! Oft times an observation like you dared will be the kiss of death, but you've got the magic :) I hope this winter you'll observe sleet and snow heading my way many times  T

Edit: Well, I lucked out with this one. It has been training light showers all night (it's nearly 2 now) with thunder all around. When I check at 11pm I had a quarter of an inch, so it isn't a great pour, but still much appreciated. I know I'll wake up to a wet ground, which will be great for a change.

Some of my viewing area hit the jackpot! Others.... left out in the warmth. ;) The map attached from the NWS shows the wide swath of 3+ inches of rain! I can confirm this from a few viewer reports too. I was actually awoken by the heavy rain a few different times so that makes for a sleepy David this AM. Notice how areas to the southeast of Columbus, also in my viewing area, were left high and dry... Poor folks! That's where a majority of the farmers live and work.

1.1 here over night. Turned out to be a south loaded event this time, for a change :) I'm hope you folks up there will eventually get yours. We really needed this. The sand dunes were taking over! The last rain was a few tenths from Lee. T

Woohoo! Glad you got some much needed H2O!! We had over 3" with Lee so it was your turn!
