I wanted to add to nchighcountrywx's pic. This was during the morning hours on the 18th at 6000'.

Great picture

Glad to see some records were broke with the cool airmass. I've been taking advantage the last few days working outdoors a lot...great weather, even though we missed the rains. Didn't get a drop here.

Cool picture!

.25 so far for the month here :devilsmiley:

Cut the grass, Jon! That will help some....and tell mom to not go back outside for another look :) That looks like the one that wandered by a few feet away while I was sitting on the porch. Guess he is a traveling snake, lol. T

I hope I don't hear Psalm scream from here if this snake continues to travel

12Z GFS has totally gone away from the closed low on AR idea, by Friday and Saturday develops strong closed low in the GL/OH valley area. It breaks out .75-1.5 inches for basically everyone through Thursday, then the front goes by drying out GA, but showers continue in the Carolinas through Friday.

CAE giving me a 50% chance of some much needed showers Tues-Fri :weight_lift:

As long as the HIgh country is dried out by Saturday morning around the Boone area!

Conference play starts up this weekend!

BTW, got 0.00" of rain this weekend :(

Once again there are some decent chances of some rain the next few days. we really need it, less than an inch of rain this month (and the end of august was also dry). and now since the tropical systems seem to have stopped and october coming at this rate we wont see any rain til november :(

Clouds are keeping temps in the upper 60's here. Nice 5-10 mph breeze also. Gonna go to the park and enjoy it since I don't have school due to Fall Break! :guitar:

Same story here but no breeze. The sun actually managed to peek out for a few minutes before going right back in. Up to 68 this go around instead of what might have been the low to mid 70s without the deck of clouds.

See gawx's post earlier today. October may bring another round of tropical cyclones.

See gawx's post earlier today. October may bring another round of tropical cyclones.

The stats that gawx comes up with are amazing! Always something new to fascinate me.

I noticed in this afternoons RAH AFD they mentioned the low pressure forming off the SD coast that might enhance our rain chances. is this the 'rogue storm' the models showed last week, and was oft mentioned in the tropical threads then? I like seeing 70% chances of rain in a couple days, until I remember the last 100% only delivered .13".

I was amazed over the weekend to see the RDU precip graph that finally had them above normal (barely) for the year, then I realized how many storms Northern Wake Co. was getting this summer that never drifted South or East. My IMBY CoCoRaHS stats have me almost 7.5" below RDU's totals YTD. Shoot, just the other day, parts of Wake got almost 5" while we dodged drizzle droplets 19 miles away.

I better stop now. I'm beginning to sound like Robert from 2008-2009- 2010 :D

Has there been another earthquake? Must have been a whopper.

"A year without Summer"

Probably should post this in the other thread but it's pretty interesting read out of the N/O. This is the volcano that was responsible for snow falling in the northeast US up until July. Enjoy

In this Oct. 19, 2010 aerial photo, Mount Tambora's 10 kilometers (more than 7 miles) wide and 1 kilometer (half a mile) deep volcanic crater, created by the April 1815 eruption, is shown. Bold farmers routinely ignore orders to evacuate the slopes of live volcanos in Indonesia, but those on Tambora took no chances when history's deadliest mountain rumbled ominously this month, Sept., 2011

haha, you left off a few years. Today is day 5 of solid clouds, and not a drop of rain yet. Atleast there is a developing closed low over Chicago that should bring in southerly flow soon and the models give anywhere from .75" to 1.75" total over the next 5 days.

We had a nice batch of light rain/drizzle/sprinkles move through earlier and have another batch coming through now. The wedge is screwing us here for precip... :gun_bandana: That being said, I'm excited about seeing an unsettled next couple of days, but the rain amounts, at least locally, won't be all that impressive. Also, that cut-off low will just sit there in the Ohio River Valley for a few days... So the "cooler" air I was hoping for this weekend doesn't look like it's going to come to fruition with westerly flow aloft. :( Oh well! Fall begins Friday!

Getting slightly worried about the "split wedge screw" IMBY where AL gets soaked, we get scraps, and then east of here gets a lot more. Echoes have been evaporating this AM and we are staying pretty cool. This happened back in the middle of July where we had a wedge and forecasts of rain in inches and I got a measly .3" over 5 days. Hope I am wrong but have than sinking feeling.

How much did you get overnight? Received .2" here.

A whopping .03"

The sun is trying to peek through a tad so maybe heating can help this afternoon. Usually these wedge events are more productive at night to tonight could be where we get more than a few drips...

That's what I was thinking. The sun is starting to break through here and hoping the added heat will mean more rain than we might otherwise get.
