FoothillsNC
I'm forecasting a new record at CLT. The record low "high" temp Friday is 61, and I'm going with about 60 for CLT. The front didnt' make it over the mtns in time, so we'll end up missing a record low max by only a few hours on the high at CLT. A midnight high of 66 at CLT and 64 here. Currently in the 50's and likely to stay there. DaculaWeather
But you know how the old saying goes...."what fall does the winter remembers". Let's hope that holds true! I like that! I've had a low of 58.1F at 2:01 am, a high of 63.8F at 4:46 am and I'm now at 62.3F and falling with very gusty winds. Athens had a 33 mph wind gust earlier today. Local Yokel Wx
Some locals in the Nothern Mtns (Boone Region) are flirting with the upper 30's and mainly the majority in that region are in the 40's. Via WeatherLink Station Map
DCMetroWinston
Since RDU was in the 50's at midnight and temps have fallen since then, it is possible that its official high temp will be in the 50s for today.

sctvman
Eventful night here. Yesterday, it was over 90 degrees in most of the area, some places approaching 95 or higher. It was pretty clear last evening. In one hour overnight, the temperature went from 78 to 68. We had bad thunderstorms about 5am. Power was knocked out in parts of James Island. We had over 3" of rain in some spots in a couple hours. Now it's down to 63 degrees at my house, with the airport stuck at only 60 with low clouds and no sun to speak of. It will be hard to get out of the middle 60s today unless clouds break up. The TV stations were calling for 70s, but they may bust on that. NWS even called for a high of 77. The high will be 79 at midnight. We'll be seeing November-like temperatures today unless it warms up a little.

I have a one penny bet with a guy at work that the day light high will not be higher than 60 at RDU. But your right, the 59 at mid-night might be the official high. Looking forward to my penny.... Lookout
It was quite amazing last night how quick the wedge starting to set in. Winds were northwesterly all evening and then when I got up at 4:30, winds were 20 to 30mph out of the northeast. That is quite impressive as often times the wind shift takes a little while and it generally starts out light. If this was a winter time wedge, we would be seeing highs in the 30s at best. I cross my toes, fingers, arms, and legs this type of wedge happens a few times this winter because when you have NE flow up to nearly 850mb, you are looking at a good one in most cases assuming you have a mechanism to create precip and the source region is cold. Those zombies need belief just like the rest of us, lol. I got down to 57 1/2 this morning, so I'm still pulling for an upper 40 tonight, but Robert says probably not....so probably not I just wish you and I could enjoy some rain with this portal closing coolness!!! Looks like those NC folks got the jump on us again...and in my my case those vertically stacked bands of balonium along the Ala. border stopped any significant rain incursions from the front . LithiaWx
The GFS is confusing to me. Check this out. http://wxweb.meteost...shtml?text=KMGE It shows temps tonight going down to 49 for me then warming up to 78 with cloud cover and the east winds associated with the wedge pouring in. This just does not make sense to me and it surely does not fit what CAD would do to us down here. Can anyone explain? edit : even the NWS has Marietta only going up to 68 tomorrow. How am I reading this wrong it looks like a high of 78 on this readout of the 6z GFS...

It's likely wrong isn't it? It should be very cloudy tomorrow, probably more like 90% + I would think in this setup..... I mean heck today it shows not much cloud cover but when I look out the window it's near 100% and should thicken up later today. edit : going to the Georgia Tech v Kansas game tomorrow. For tomorrow both models decrease the 850mb RH quite a bit so I would not be surprised if the sun does come out from time to time tomorrow for ATL.
