Thundersnow12
LOT regarding tomorrow and tomorrow night THURSDAY WILL START OUT NICE BUT DO NOT BE DECEIVED. PVA AND H5 HEIGHT FALLS LEADING STRONG SHORT WAVE TROUGH AS IT ARRIVES IN UPPER MIDWEST THURSDAY MORNING WILL CAUSE RAPID DEEPENING OF SURFACE LOW PRESSURE OVER NORTHERN GREAT LAKES...WITH A STRONG COLD FRONT SWEEPING TOWARD CWA. OUT AHEAD OF FRONT...WSW FLOW AND H85 TEMPS WARMING TO LOW TO MID TEENS WILL ALLOW FOR TEMPERATURES TO REACH UPPER 60S FAR NORTH...LOW 70S CHICAGO AND WEST...AND MID AND A FEW UPPER 70S FAR SOUTH BY EARLY AFTERNOON. DEWPOINTS WILL RISE TO THE 50S TO AROUND 60 DEGREES...LEADING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MINOR INSTABILITY. AS FRONT APPROACHES...DESPITE MEAGER INSTABILITY...DYNAMICS WILL BE QUITE IMPRESSIVE. STRONG H5 HEIGHT FALLS AND PVA RESULT IN OFF THE CHARTS OMEGA NOTED ON BUFKIT SOUNDINGS. STAYED CLOSED TO PREVIOUS FCST WITH PRECIP FORECAST FOR TOMORROW...WITH SCATTERED SHOWER ACTIVITY AND HIGHEST POPS EAST. BROADENED ISOLATED THUNDER MENTION TO MOST OF CWA DUE TO IMPRESSIVE DYNAMICS...BUT AT THIS POINT THINK SEVERE POTENTIAL IS LOW. AFTER FRONT SWEEPS THROUGH REGION BY MID AFTERNOON...FOCUS QUICKLY TURNS TO STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS. STRONG LOW PRESSURE TRACKING ACROSS NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN BY THURSDAY EVENING WILL CAUSE RAPID TIGHTENING OF PRESSURE GRADIENT...WITH SOME ISALLOBARIC COMPONENT POSSIBLE AS WELL. STRONG CAA...AS H85 TEMPERATURES CRASH FROM THE TEENS TO MID SINGLE DIGITS...WILL STEEPEN LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND LEAD TO MIXING TO AT LEAST 900 MB. MODEL SOUNDINGS SHOW 40 KT + WINDS NOT FAR OFF THE DECK MID AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT FOR MUCH OF AREA...WHICH SHOULD EASILY MIX DOWN. THUS HOISTED WIND ADVISORY FROM 21Z THURSDAY TO 10Z FRIDAY FOR ALL BUT SOUTHERN TIER OF COUNTIES

If a strong trop fold accompanies the potential deep mixing there could be some very strong gusts. Gonna be interesting to watch.

turtlehurricane
HRRR is suggesting more and more that showers will be collocated with the wind max. I'm not sure how a precipitation system will manifest itself in such strong flow though, might be an unusual or intense structure.
baroclinic_instability
Going to be a lovely windy day across the NP and GL. MPX sounding at 12Z is almost already well mixed. Shouldn't take much more than 1-2 hours of sun to start hitting the 40+ MPH wind gusts.
turtlehurricane
Winds are calm at the sfc here in downtown Madison as a classic jet streak rain shield moves in (rain has just started as I type this). OHSnow
First mention of snow for the season by NWS CLE: ONCE THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY MOVES EAST...COLD AIR ADVECTION WILL BEGINTO TAKE PLACE. THE COLD AIR ADVECTION WILL LINGER INTO THE WEEKENDAS 1000 TO 500 MB THICKNESSES DROP DOWN TO AROUND 540 SATURDAY ANDSATURDAY EVENING. 850 MB TEMPERATURES WILL DIP TO -3 TO -4 CSATURDAY INTO SUNDAY. AT THIS POINT...SINCE THE LAKE IS SO WARMYET...I THINK THERE IS A MUCH GREATER CHANCE THAT WE WILL NOT SEETHE FORMATION OF SNOW GRAINS JUST YET. SO WILL LEAVE THE MENTION OFSNOW OUT OF THE FORECAST FOR NOW. HOWEVER...I CANT RULE OUT ANISOLATED FEW SNOW GRAINS IN THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS TO THE EAST. *IndyMeso*
Another tornado has been confirmed in Indiana by IND. This one occurred early Monday morning and was rated an EF1. I think a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for this one. "A small brief tornado occurred in northwest Jennings County early Monday morning, September 26. The tornado began at approximately 12:33 AM EDT around 6 miles west of North Vernon along County Road 700 West between County Roads 150 North and 300 North. The tornado destroyed a pole barn and damaged 2 homes before lifting around 12:34 AM EDT. The path was approximately a half mile long and 75 yards wide. Based on the damage, the tornado was rated an EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale with winds estimated near 100 mph. This same storm also produced straight line wind damage, knocking down trees, near St. Paul in northwest Decatur County at 12:55 AM EDT and also golf ball size hail in New Castle around 1:30 AM EDT."
