cyclone77
It would be funny if Chicago managed to hit 100 later this week since they just missed doing it earlier this year. I wonder if there's ever been a year where their only 100 degree temp came in September. Haha, especially if it's at ORD while MDW hits 99. DVN getting increasingly more bullish for Thursday, with forecast highs now around 96. They're really low balling Friday though, with only low 90s forecast. It's a bit early, but I'd go with 98 Thursday, and 100 Friday for MLI.

OHSnow
Just checked the 18z NAM. It brings H85 temps up to 25-26C in Detroit Friday. The NWS forecast high is only 88, but I would think mid 90s (or better) would be a good bet with those mid-level temps.
cyclone77
This updated NAM is chillier than the 18z version, as it only has Peoria hitting 106 now. Does have us hitting 102, with the QC hitting 104.

Chicago Storm
12z GFS MOS is showing 90/92 on Thur/Fri. The 12z NAM has 96/100 and the 0z ECMWF showed 95-100 on both days. 12z GFS MOS is now showing 90/93. 12z NAM MOS has 92/96 and raw output shows 96/100. 0z ECMWF still shows 95-100 both days. Hoosier
What the Euro is depicting has essentially never happened here before (2 consecutive September days aoa 100). I still think that outcome is less than 50/50 but that it's even on the table is stupid.
Hoosier
IND page on the heat wave: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=ind&storyid=72362&source=0 Another heat wave will follow the pleasant weather that the Indianapolis area has been enjoying since Saturday. Maximum temperatures during the first three days of September will rival the hottest weather Indianapolis has experienced this summer. A temperature of 97 degrees at the Indianapolis airport would make this weather the hottest for September since early September 1954. The number of 90 degree days during 2011 will exceed 37...the most for a year since 1988. There is a possibility that the temperature could reach 100 degrees at the airport. This has not happened during September since September 5, 1954. The maximum temperature for the month of September is also 100 degrees. This occurred on only five September days since 1871...2 days in both 1939 and 1953 and 1 day in 1954.
snowlord81
Projected high at KIND today was 88. Were up to 94, prolly gonna reach 95. I think 100 thurs and friday might be easy. Models were way underdone here. Must have something to do with the dry ground.

TheWeatherPimp
Friday definitely looks to have a legitimate shot at 100 degrees at KIND, but definitely could get close tomorrow. The extremely dry conditions should really help crank up temperatures during the afternoon hours. I'm planning on spending much of Friday and Saturday in the pool as good pool weather days are dwindling.

Thundersnow12
some differences regarding precip on the front friday evening around here. The 12z GFS has ongoing and more developing storms throughoutt he afternoon/evening where as the NAM has nothing breaking out till after 0z. Looking at H7 temps at 18z friday, the NAM is a bit warmer which might be playing a role.
