wisconsinwx
It's getting old how the models always seem to overestimate our QPF, even 12-24 hours ahead of time. The exception is this weekend when we got an inch and a half of rain. Still, we were predicted to be in the maximum QPF heading into the weekend, but what did we get last night? About 0.3, maybe a bit more.
Bryan Wood
3 to 5 inches of rain in the Dayton, OH area this morning. Lots of street flooding issues and people actually drove under the speed limit on I-70 on my way to work. You know you have a lot of rain when normally aggressive drivers become passive! cyclone77
Fascinating storm system to be sure. Has the feel of a cold tropical system. Steady cold rains here. Up to 0.44", but some heavier showers are popping up north of here and should rotate in soon. BTW the frontal passage around Thursday this week could be interesting. Looks like some strong gradient winds will be possible behind the front over much of the MW.
turtlehurricane
The center is passing over Madison now, pressure bottomed out at about 998 mb and a cold front came through. Temp has dropped from 62° F to 58° F in past 30 minutes and the dewpoint has gone from 62° F to 53° F. Winds are also calming down a bit, was gusting to almost 40 mph earlier but now only gusting around 20 mph. More wind should come on the back side, HRRR is forecasting gusts near 40 mph. That's what I was thinking this morning, the rainfall we had was more akin to the remnants of a tropical storm passing through. It was consistent and heavy. Thundersnow12
the heaviest rain is just sitting from VYS to northeast of DKB, going to be some pretty heavy totals in that area. And the rain should wrap back around into this area later on.
cyclone77
40mph wind gusts at RFD now. Surface low is about bottomed out now a little west-northwest of there. Getting pretty squally here with some gusts approaching 30mph and heavier rainfall.
Thundersnow12
GFS ensembles in fairly decent agreement in bringing in a fairly big through into the western US in the long range.
Chicago Storm
2.57" here since midnight. Still coming down, with the sun peaking through the clouds to the east. Added an additional 0.10" So the total now stands at 2.67"
Chicago Storm
Huntley, IL has picked up 4.35" Based on area reports, the chances of that being true are slim to none.

hawkeye_wx
Models had been trending wetter for us, with up to an inch of rain possible, but with the main slug of moisture already finished we only got 0.28"... disappointing.
turtlehurricane
Based on area reports, the chances of that being true are slim to none. Radar shows a nice 5" bullseye right near there: http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=mkx&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=no Winds picking up again in Madison, gusting 35+ mph at the airport and up to 45 mph on top of the met building. T/Td has settled out at 56/50 on top of the met building, and radar is suggesting more rain may be about to move in on the backside.

cyclone77
Very cool looking visible satellite image. The storm has wrapped warmer air all the way back and down into far eastern Iowa. After sitting in dense cloud cover and cold rain all day we may actually get some clearing in the next hour or two. Temps may spike up towards 60. michsnowfreak
Poured this morning! ANOTHER day with over an inch of precipitation, we notched 1.05" imby. Up to 42.27" on the year, 3" more than my previous wettest year (since getting my rain gauge in 2000), and still have 3+ months to go. Craziness! Getting really excited as the colors are starting. wisconsinwx
F'ed over yet again. You really deserve a break right now, def more than myself. The airport has tended to get some of the lowest totals this summer into fall. Must be a permanently dry patch of air or something...j/k! Anyways, hopefully this winter can deliver. turtlehurricane
FYI, anyone that can catch a clearing when it gets dark should look for aurora. There is a severe geomagnetic storm in progress, strongest of the cycle so far.

Yeah, even though its not producing epic flooding or snow, it sure is photogenic. Just showed my friends that picture on FB and he thought it was a joke, like someone photoshopped a hurricane over the continental US
