Stormlover74
One year ago around this time people were getting excited for the pattern flip that was coming in early December, all kinds of threats, from clippers to a MECS. Even though we got the pattern flip and turned cold the snow held off until late in the month so you just never know. Maybe this year will be the reverse, crappy pattern but just cold enough to get a few snow events to track

SnoSki14
Torch, Torch, Torch! What exactly defines a torch? 5 degrees above normal, 10? 15? 20?, because I hear that word being thrown around so often that you guys should create a thread just for the use of the word "torch". earthlight
Wes just said that he expects most of December to be mild and snowless for the mid atlantic. Winter cancel? I expect that as well. Stormlover74
Depends on the time of year. To me yesterday felt like a torch, when you can go outside in a short sleeve shirt in november, its a torch. But it was basically a one day thing as Saturday was cool and today is sorta cool What exactly defines a torch? 5 degrees above normal, 10? 15? 20?, because I hear that word being thrown around so often that you guys should create a thread just for the use of the word "torch". To me yesterday felt like a torch, when you can go outside in a short sleeve shirt in november, its a torch. But it was basically a one day thing as Saturday was cool and today is sorta cool When I think of torch, I think of summer-like weather. 65F isn't really a torch but I guess relative to the calendar, it kind of is. I agree about yesterday, it was very mild and well above normal.

CooL
I expect that as well. Luckily we don't live in the Central Mid Atlantic. damn lol NYC and northern NJ has a totally different climate than the DC/Baltimore area, which is where he usually forecasts. I'm not canceling, just questioning the front loaded winter calls of alot of mets...if we don't get the cold early, then maybe Mid-Jan to March rocks? Who knows. I think most are ready to toss in the towel on the 1st 1/3 of winter (Which includes the cold Dec call made by many.)

TheTrials
Euro stays cold through the end of the run and has a HUGE rIdge coming up to Alaska that should help with the EPO and some ridging approaching Greenland. Def. a better pattern, not perfect, but will cool us down and lay the foundation for more changes IMHO.
