Neblizzard
:weight_lift: Models are starting to retrograde the west coast trof from hell next week. Looks like a transient west coast ridge pops up. We are getting there slowly but surely. All we need now is for that AK vortex to move south of the Aleutians. Isotherm
storms still wanna find the east coast despite this hideous pattern If we get snow out of this storm, I'm convinced another 40-50"+ winter is on tap. If we get snow in the worst imaginable pattern, we should be snowing every week.

If we get snow in the worst imaginable pattern, we should be snowing every week. pattern within a pattern. There is a PNA spike, very cold HP, and maybe even a little transient rex block. This is why blanket statements about patterns are so dangerous. Right now its a loooooooong shot but just looking at the ukie 500mb if it happened exactly like that its doable. earthlight
Lol the trough being positively tilted is the only thing that let's that storm even have a chance. There is absolutely no blocking.
TheTrials
no Atlantic block but it looks like something keeps that HP holding on. May be something in southern Canada to suppress that a little. Several of the gfs ensembles show this.

CooL
however in this awfully atrocious pattern for snow, a west to east system is what we need..as well as the low going south of us obviously

TheTrials
holy cross polar flow on the gfs at the end. The real Mccoy of cold air works its way to the conues and not down the west coast towards central canada on a path towards the eastern us as the pna goes wildly positive and looks to mean business for a while.
