That's why the NAO remains the wild card, but if we consistently see cutter after cutter for the next month or so, then start to worry. The past storm was

inland and this next storm is already trending more inland.

I can care less about what happens in October. Wake me up when December starts.

I agree with that, it would be nice to see some snowflakes at the end of this month, a sign of winter in a very mild month so far. NW NJ

and the Poconos are running some 2 weeks behind schedule with their first frost/freeze, it's crazy how mild its been. The highs this month havent

been too bad, but the lows are so warm.

ummm..storms do that in October..I remember last year at this time you were harping on the same stuff..Storm tracks mean nothing at this time of year.if this were early December you MIGHT have a worry.Last year a trace of snow till Decemeber 26th..many people on this board in mid Decemeber last year were calling winter a bust..check out the posts!

the first snow I remember in October was in 1962...Snow was sticking on exposed objects briefly...November 62 had a few more snow chances with a snow to rain event in the city...Another dusting in places...The best chances for snow that winter were a pre Christmas storm...I believe it was the 21st snow started in the afternoon and continued into the early morning hours of the 22nd...The day started at 10 degrees and was near freezing by midnight...Snow changed to rain in the early hours and ended that morning...Temps were in the 30's...3-4" of snow before the change over...A trace on the ground Christmas morning...Very light snow for Christmas day but it changes to rain at night...Another storm after Christmas was mostly rain in NYC...January had one or two cold rain events with temperatures in the 30's with ne winds...In between these events were some near record cold waves...Jaqnuary 26th? had the largest storm of the season but like all the other significant storms the snow changed to rain in the city...4-6" across the city but it would have been 10" if it stayed all snow...February had a snow event around the 20th that started as rain but changed to snow with temperatures just above freezing...More cold air after that...March 1st had a nice snow event with 2" accumulating before it changed to rain during the evening...Temperatures were just above freezing over night...That winter, storms were probably tracking to our west with coastal development a little to late...

That was one of the coldest winters across the country and here in my lifetime...Snowfall was 16-20" across the city...

THe allergies are the worst I can ever remember for an Autumn.I rarely sneeze this time of the year unless I have a cold and I am sneezing multiple times in 10 seconds several times a day for the past several weeks now.I cant wait until we get the first frost.
