famartin
nice little dry slot over us now...the last few hours have been impressive, but i never heard a single clap of thunder or saw a flash of lighning, even with all the severe meandering through...weird... Lightning isn't common with tropical systems IIRC because the atmosphere is so warm that ice crystals are relegated to very high in the atmosphere. *I think*. famartin
Ray, u have a ukt #? I am finding its obs unreliable in the rainfall department, so I excluded it from my list.
NickD2011
The center has cleared the latitude of Virginia/Maryland in the Delmarva. So far it doesn't seem as bad as the March 2010 nor'easter, even in the heavy bands. I predict landfall in Atlantic City and it goes pretty much on the Parkway to Sandy Hook, and a third landfall in Brooklyn.

Thunder Road
In the dry slot in Bordentown, power is still on but it flickered a few times. When posting obs, can you please post your current location or put it in your profile? "50 mph wind gust here" is pretty useless without a location. I think this was covered already but locations of members aren't on their profiles right now as a means of increasing server capacity.
NickD2011
Interesting to note that NJ has not had any sustained TS winds yet

Still in the dry slot here in Bordentown. If this were a snowstorm I'd be hating this.

Big Jims Videos
Posted this in the ny thread but I believe we had a weak tor move through point pleasant beach around 10:45. Watched several trees fall across the street, the top of one went through that cheese grater effect you see on YouTube videos...I saw it with my own eyes, and about five transformers exploded nearby. It came in as a wall of water, a roar, and lasted 10 seconds tops...that cell was not warned here but was quickly warned as it moved nw. Most intense 10 seconds of Wx I ever seen in my life
NickD2011
An F0 tornado needs only 40 mph winds, so we could have had many F0 tornadoes tonight that we couldn't see or distinguish from the storm winds.
NJHurricane
call from my brother in North brunswick...reports transformer flashes, thinks the house is getting reduced power light are on but some appliances shut off...taking water in his basement fast....as that band works through central jersey now. JSchwake28
looking at what i believe is tombo's home weather station in drexel hill (my hometown) it looks as though you guys are over 17 inches of precip for the month. Should easily approach if not break 20 inches before all is said and done. this is roughly half a year's rainfall within 31 days. unreal.
NaoPos
ok, so here was my ride out during that band. Was coming up Baltimore Pike in clifton heights by the Kmart.. decided to get to cover fast to the firehouse in secane. as i was heading westbound towards the depot, saw multiple power flashes to my NW. The area was clifton field, westbrook park, springfield. For 1-2 minutes, i saw about 10-13 power flashes that direction. This was at the height of the squall, and while tornado warnings were going on. Could the 52mph winds as recorded by PHL be responsible for these consecutive flashes? or could this have been a possible tornado based on the frequency of the flashes? Boch23
Looks like another strong band is setting up to plow through SE PA. Also at one point I heard chainsaws while it was still poring out.
JSchwake28
Darby Creek starting to spill its banks in spots. Which spots have you checked out so far? I basically grew up along the darby creek and always loved to run down and check it out during big rain events.

NaoPos
Also, the Kmart section of darby creek in clifton was slowly running over the road. About 3" of the archways underneath were showing. Also, shadeland Ave at the light facing bownies had water coming over that little drainage tunnel. Lots of debris in the water at the bend there. Saw a couple logs with my spotlight. I'm sure this dry slot helps a bit. I;m off for a nap till about 3-4am. watch that heavier area of dbz west of mays landing..
