I would have to imagine, with Mt. Holly's track record of never issuing too many TORs, that the situation

must be unique. I usually can look at the radars at the website to see if everything is legit...but these

tropical showers cannot be spotted on the NEXRAD velocities for the most part. I am guessing that most

of the warnings for the high population areas are via the Terminal Doppler as they are made for quick

detection of violent changes in winds. I would NOT want to be a Warning Forecaster on such a night.

There has been very good lead time for the warnings tho....the first one had a nearly 20 minute lead....the one that produced the tornado in Nassau Station about 10-15...

You off-duty, Mike?

Nope, I am at the office all night. First thing I was tasked when I walked in the door was to expand the tornado watch. Interesting drive in as I had to turn around because of a tree blocking the road then some flooding.

Good evening,

Posting from stone harbor, NJ.

Squally weather the past few hours. I am a block from ocean for a point of reference.

Waves have been decent. Latest tracks takes the storm about 3 miles east of my location.

Wondering if we get flooded out. Most locals that are still here expect it to occur.

there are ten homes on th block and we have around 5 home owners/guests in the area other than the the streets behind us etc.

I suspect about 20% of the people are still here that own homes.

Brother and I are hunkred down, going for margaritas at his buddies house soon.

Going to try to pull an all nighter or wake up around 4 AM for the peak.

Br,

DT

Definitely a restless night ahead for many folks. Night time severe, esp with tors upstream from your location a recipe for a bad nights "sleep". Never really appreciated that til I moved from the Delaware Valley to AR.

Rarely does a storm live up to this level of hype, but I think this one will in the PHL area anyway.
