ski MRG
Looks like you missed the whole spat because Ray was the one who didn't read. But let's drop this garbage. Nice elitist post though. Brian, do you think much will fall in the backlash as the storm exits? Still pouring here with wind though the radar looks clean. Really hoping the rain stops soon. hammerz_nailz
Damn failure in Becket, downstream being evacuated (rt 20 Chester etc), water over the bridge of flowers in Shelburne, multiple evacs on going throughout the east slope.Massive property damage. So sorry it hasn't been a good enough storm for the ghouls. wow ...that area below the bridge (pot holes) must look unreal

cheetah440
Agreed... live shot on WWLP shows it within banks but running very fast - I would be especially worried about Route 20/other areas between the city center and the West Springfield line as that is a prone flooding area just pulled it up online, rte20 going downhill in Westfield as I suspected. Little River and mill river have some areas as well which could cause problems.

Cold Miser
Currently living on the generator here (since after 9:00am). Still some decent gusts pushing through. No where near the water I was thinking was going to come down. I will go out and check on the property later, as I am sure there are trees down. First day of school has been cancelled for tomorrow. shawnmov
Those thinking this was a NON storm, just drove from Lexington to Waltham (3 miles). Four detours, two electrical fires (School Street, Lexington), three trees down on houses (Spring Street, Lexington), numerous trees, limbs down (Lexington Street, Waltham) and many roads blocked off around Forest Street (Waltham). Pretty wild stuff. Most roads passible. I think many people in houses, who are sheltered from the wind, don't realize how bad it is out there until you get in a car and either see what's really going on or get into an unexposed area with only one hand on the wheel. Be careful out there!

monadnocks
Power's been out for about 3.5 hours here in Greenfield, NH. Occasionally a pretty strong gust of wind will come through. I haven't seen any particularly strong damage but have heard chainsaws and generators working. -monadnocks

One thing you can really see in a ton of the videos up...it's not just old trees falling. It's trees that previously were in larger tree stands that have been cleared in the last 20-25 for developments and were left exposed.

Mips
Over here in the corner of North Andover where it meets the Middleton & Boxford borders . Took a walk down the 0.2 mi tree canopied driveway. Littered with leaves, many small leaf clusters w green acorns. Mostly small branches less than 1/2" diameter. Took maybe half dozen 1" diameter pine branches, 3-5 feet long, off the driveway. Street littered with leaves. Strong scent of fresh cut pine in the air but I didn't see evidence of larger breaks or falls in the woods that I could identify as new fall. Power still blinks at times since morning but never went off (not yet). The wind undercurrent that was blowing constantly all morning is still there with the occasional dog scaring gusts. Checking around back which is about 30 feet of clearing to the edge of woods directly back, less clearing to the sides. Still smells of pine, but less so than front: no visible branches down, not a lot of leaves down. Fat tomatoes still hanging around on vertical plants which were not staked or tied. There is a 3" thick, 12' long branch broken off but caught in other branches of a tree in the back - it's been there since first light this morning and never blew off in the worst gusts. At least not yet.. The trees further down slope and in the wetlands below sway a lot more when the gusts come through the hollow. Just under 2" in the rain gauge. Intermittent misty drizzling. Rocket
I didn't get the station hooked up to the net but I have some readings for Marlborough, MA. Average wind speed at 2:00 pm has come down to 10mph with gusts to 18mph and coming from SSW. The barometer is still falling and is at 29.03inches. Total rainfall so far is 4.70inches (2.99inches since midnight). Took a drive to inspect roads and properties. Small branches mostly but some very large trees that were previously stressed/damaged in roads. Lines down here and there. Only one road flooded before noon (that I inspected).
