snowman21
wind speed is related to pressurechange/distance Yep, but at the end of the day sensible weather is all anyone cares about (myself included). If the winds don't materialize then it's a bust regardless of central pressure.

Snow Bow
We got ours yesterday speedmeister Currently filling up the bathtub (for flushing) Hoping I can still take a shower and enjoy coffee in the morning. We use a Keuirg now and while we have a kettle I can use on the grill, no instant coffee...well, not that I know of. Bathing will be an issue, too. I hope they don't mind at work. Why not just use the swimming pool for flushing? And I guess you could wash your hair in there too. That is as long as it doesn't get blown over. I was about to fill the tub too and figured what the hell I have 13,000 gallons of water in it.

A question and a comment: Somewhere I read that a one inch drop on the barometer = a one foot rise on oceal level. I believe its called inverted barometer effect. Can anyone please comment on that? Question: Has there been any study on the relationship between new moon/full moon and severe east coast storms/

New England Storm
all the reports coming in from NJ/DE are amazing.. flooding, tornadoes, winds, power outages.. and its all headed this way.. ( except the tornadoes maybe) I hope so, nothing is worse than a nighttime rain wrapped tornado. Like some one on necn said" if they form they could form and die out before radar updates and thus could have no warning.

Snow Bow
Did you see the idiots at Misquamicut on NECN? Also an old timer who remembers 1938 I was just discussing the 38' cane with my 88 year old grandfather earlier today. He remembers it well(still completely with it too) and was showing me how high up the water mark went up on some of the buildings situated on the sides of the Merrimack River in downtown Manchester, NH. Really hard to imagine the water getting up as high as it did on some mill buildings. The 2nd floor windows were about as high as the water got up to. Keep in mind the normal river level is a good 30 feet or so below that. I would have to assume that would never be able to happen again with the flood prevention measures that are in place nowadays.
