LOL, this was our third update. I was out when the first two came. Very specific right down to saying the center of the storms circulation was forecast to move by 6 miles to the east of Chesterfield. Not sure where that info is coming from. They spoke of long duration winds of 45-65 with gusts in excess of 75 mph. Got a bad feeling about this one.

Ours gave no details other than we shouldn't plan on traveling, should plan on extended power outages, and that they'd be slow to respond to any emergencies.

Wiz, three tornadoes in south NJ already.... each one farther north than the last.... latest one is in Ocean County. I heard a house got demolished down in De

Yeah just posted...more and more tornado warnings coming out. Appears the tornadic potential may be increasing which is kind of odd around here usually...usually this threat weakens with northward extent. Could make tonight very interesting.

Good luck with your new baby and the rest of your family

I hope you come through ok

Thanks Dave, I'm sure we'll be ok. I've sharpened all the chainsaws and have plenty of fuel/food. The folks that built this house long ago sited it in a protected glen in the forest. Still, with many ancient maples and towering eastern white pines about the property it's likely we'll have some issues. This is one time I'd rather not be up high on an eastern aspect.lol

Not many people around here have landlines anymore. Guess I should register my phone with the town but I think I know more than they do and well before them, thanks to this place.

I've got them on three sides of the house and it's got me a wee bit nervous. Stay safe.

I was hoping BOX would reduce the predicted severity of the winds here on the east slope. Evidently they are staying the course. If this verifies, and I really hope it doesn't, it's going to be a disaster here. Monday looks like nice weather to clean up debris in.

Hazardous Weather Outlook

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog. Low around 65. Breezy, with a east wind 7 to 10 mph increasing to between 19 and 22 mph. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Sunday: Tropical storm conditions expected. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog. High near 73. East wind 45 to 55 mph increasing to between 40 and 60 mph. Winds could gust as high as 80 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts in excess of 4 inches possible.

Sunday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 1am. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 52. Windy, with a west wind 25 to 28 mph decreasing to between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 72. West wind between 8 and 14 mph.

Barometric pressure is misleading when it comes to the large storms because the pressure gradient is spread out over a much larger area. Gotta look at the winds, since that's all that really matters at this point.

I don't know about that...I have seen plenty of red taggers say that pressure is a pretty good indicator of overall strength, and you can't just throw i out.

We still have one through our cable co. My in laws still have a couple of traditional wired phones. They had phone service (no electric) after the ice storm.

Our cell reception at my house is minimal
