Can Pyrex dishes survive on the grill over low heat?

gas/charcoal grill?

kind of a crapshoot, but with a double layer of aluminum foil under the pyrex you'll probably be OK. Especially if you don't put it directly over the heat. Been there, done that.

yeah, yeah, I know this isn't directly Irene related. But it might turn out to be useful info for those who are making their way thru the defrosting freezer.

That is fantastic Steve..many many hours of strong damaging winds.. Nice grab.

It's possible Clouds n contrails might have those 4 trees down on his house he was hoping for

not buying this wind readout.. I think they just take the coordinates and radii from the nhc and plot it on the map

in reality the winds are not the strongest at the center, like more at the coast

I'm actually thrilled this corner of Ma. has avoided any significant rain thus far. I can't believe how big this thing looks on the radar and ir satellite.

eastern areas of the state that should be getting more wind have also gotten a good early soaking. Watch those trees.

Our cool dry summer is about to be a cool wet summer, Chris.

Things go a little slower out your way, Pete. We got ours at 6:30.

We got ours yesterday speedmeister

Currently filling up the bathtub (for flushing)

Hoping I can still take a shower and enjoy coffee in the morning. We use a Keuirg now and while we have a kettle I can use on the grill, no instant coffee...well, not that I know of.

Bathing will be an issue, too. I hope they don't mind at work.

Based on the BOX forecast, I'd expect the map to show higher winds up here prior to 8:00a.m. Forecast is calling for winds "increasing to 25-35mph with gusts up to 50mph after midnight".

looks like it's a TS....the hurricane hunters just aren't finding the right winds

It's a pretty ragged looking storm that's for sure. Although I think at this point with the rain that has already fallen this month it won't take much wind to do a lot of damage. The flooding with this storm on the west side and the surges on the coast are going to be where this storm leaves it's mark. I don't think there's much difference at this point if it hits as a cat 1 or a 50mph TS.
