I am concerned that people are not taking this seriously. The storm surge into the nyc metro, western long island sound is going to be devestating......winds sustained at say 40 mph with gusts to 50 for 12+ hours will bring down hundreds to thousand of trees across fairfield cty, it will be much worse than that.

This will be the worst strom and damage in sw ct in 40+years.

I can tell you that we're taking it seriously here Joe. I have multiple streams on or near my property and 5-10 inches of rain is going pose an issue. My neighbors and I have all met today and talked about what each of us had on hand and what might be needed. Pretty sure we'll be cutting our way out. Heavy rain and high winds, not good.

THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS FOR A WIDESPREAD 5 TO 10 INCHES OF

RAINFALL ACROSS INTERIOR SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...WITH THE HIGHEST

AMOUNTS ACROSS THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES. FARTHER EAST...

A WIDESPREAD RAINFALL OF 3 TO 6 INCHES IS EXPECTED. LOCALLY

HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS ALL OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. A

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND.

LISTEN FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS FOR YOUR LOCATION...AND BE

READY TO ACT IF FLOODING RAINS OCCUR.

What else is new?lol

When I see you highlight things like 5-10 inches I expect it to be snow, not rain.

These are things we like about GC. Hard to believe they're talking about conditions deteriorating beginning after midnight. Not too long away and there's not a breath of air here, just a gross 68.3/67.

Admittedly I don't know much about this stuff or how it works, but I assume as long as the gas is on it should all work. Is that not right? We don't lose power here, so I've never had to think about these things.

Typically gas appliances like hot water boilers and furnaces will have a shut off valve that is run by low voltage sensors, lose the sensor lose the gas. Burners on stove tops usually don't have them while the oven will. Good thing you don't lose power.lol
