iammrben
Any new DCA gust and sustained reports? Haven't seen anything in a while and am curious if we've definitively surpassed Isabel...
WVclimo
Since that western edge surged past me, its gotten very squally out here. Radar looks great. Irene has more than lived up to her billing.
Kmlwx
And just like that Pepco goes over 100,000 outages. Yep...here we go. Still house of wind to go. My 95K prediction = bust now. Probably will spike to near 200,000 at some point.
Bob Chill
PEPCO just cracked 100k. Considering the highest winds aren't here yet, that # can easily top 500k+.

adelphi_sky
Power's out here in Adelphi. Heard transformers blowing. Winds are insane. Someone mentioned that the strongest winds will be between 2am and 5am? Sheesh. Make it stoppppp. Hearing limbs fall on the roof. So far, none big enough to cause any damage. Ian
Those rain totals are way off for Delmarva. Wallops Island got 11.25 before their rain gauge quit working. We've had steady rain here in SBY since 3 AM. it's mostly just to get an idea of the gradient. as with other things it might have more trouble at the edges of the beam.. it is running high at dca
SabreAce33
Just checked outside again here in SBY, still moderate-heavy rain, but nothing more than a brisk wind. Certainly nothing that will be knocking lots of trees down. Giving up and going to bed. Stay safe all.

Ian
I've noticed how the orientation of the stripe has been slowly changing from running SW-to-NE to now more SSW-to-NNE... matches better with the track of Irene now. yeah.. the models generally nailed it the past few days. they were all very heavy to the s/e of 95 till about 8p, now it's filling in elsewhere

BethesdaWX
no. just no. we've been at 15 sustained for a while now and it's not a big deal: http://www.weather.g...story/KMRB.html 5 post time, please. Thats 45 miles away in martinsburg my dear And I said 15-20 at the time anyway? Bands tend to contain higher winds locally through mixing, periods of higher sustained winds intermixed with periods of lower sustained winds (like now). In a tight gradient system why would you use a station with completely different conditions? What is your deal?

CheesyPoofs
Still gusting close to 60mph here in Virginia Beach. Actually probably getting more inland tree damage now than all day. Did you go down to Va Beach for Irene?
