Meanwhile, winds have finally kicked up - getting some really nice gusts. Just wanted to step in for a sec.... I heard the same noises and saw brilliant flashes of light, those are transformers blowing. But in my case it wasn't because of the wind (this was before the wind ramped up), it was because there had been some sort of lightning strike and it overloaded the system. We've had big thunderstorms here tonight but the wind just started to ramp up about an hour ago.
