Ian
Do you have updated thoughts? Re winds and rain? high end on both it seems not sure we'll sustain at 43kts tho dca might top 50 with this next band.. looks better than one that got to
mitchnick
Parts of S MD already have 4-5" http://radar.weather...1101111&loop=no those radar estimates are always high here's SBY a little over 3" through 6PM http://www.srh.noaa....story/KSBY.html EDIT: actually, that estimate looks closer to reality than others I've seen in the past

Lots of rain but wind has been tame here thus far. What is your call for max gust at DCA?

MOS didnt really pick up sustained winds till near 0z. I think we're pretty much on target..perhaps stronger gusts than expected this early tho I don't think they'll go much higher comparatively. DCA... 64?

adelphi_sky
This next band coming in ought to be fun. Let's hope so. It's hard being married to someone who has been in colder snowier weather and more dangerous hurricanes. She's not always impressed. lol

Kicking Up A Storm
WHAT!? DC Alert: "3-6 inches of rain is likely between now and 11:30 PM for D.C" That's an incredible amount within 5 hours. Please let this verify. Wind gusts look impressive via looking at the trees here on the 7th floor

What is your call for max gust at DCA? Yeah nothing major here either, mostly 10-15 sustained, gusting to around 25, hoping for something more exciting later tonight. SomeguyfromTakomaPark
750,000 w/o power per Dominion I don't see any reason why we won't experience the same thing as the storm gets closer.
Jebman
Mod to heavy rain; at least 2 inches. NNE winds sustained at about 10 mph with a couple of gusts to 30 mph I think Woodbridge is going to get off easy on winds - we are a bit too far west. But it is raining cats and dogs. The storm is weakening. I wish it would make a sharp turn east and accelerate to 80 mph straight AWAY from Dale City. I don't want high winds and I don't want to lose power CNN is a real fear monger - I finally turned them off in disgust - You'd think it was the very end of the world from watching CNN. BethesdaWX
Big band over DC seems to have some nice wind in it. About 3/4" of rain thus far so soil probably not too saturated.

SomeguyfromTakomaPark
we wont get as high of winds as ric but it could be enough still They are a little closer to the center of circulation than us, but when it passes us later it's going to be probably less than 40-50 miles further from us I'd guess from radar. RIC_WX
Getting close to 70% of Richmond without power....... Isabel was 95%. Based on the track of Irene so far to the east I find it hard to believe this could really rival Isabel.
Qaanaaq
Interesting band southeast of Charlottesville over the last hour- NWS has issued a Flash Flood warning in portions of Buckingham County.
