Ian
LOL @ the power companies down here. How the hell are people already losing power near a major city? I don't even remember the last time a storm knocked out power in Boston. I think It had to have been 5+ years ago. if this hit as the weenie dream up there they'd have lost power for 2 months

vastateofmind
71 degrees, humidity 94% (really?), winds sustained around 10-12 mph with a few gusts up to 25-30 mph, rain steadily transitioning from light/moderate, to moderate/heavy at times. Here's a 40 second video of a squall that just went through MBY about 30 minutes ago -- wondering if I might lose a few of those rain and wind-bowed myrtles by daybreak: http://bit.ly/pJbwc8

BethesdaWX
Have had a few >25mph gusts but nothing sustained and nothing too strong yet. Rain has been adding up though and the 18z NAM suggests it really deteriorates after 10PM.
snowfan
I think we're going to get some really high rain rates. Irene is taking her good ole time moving up the coast. Wouldn't be surprised if some places ended up with closer to 10 inches of rain.

Grothar of Herndon
Picked up 0.28" of rain in Herndon as of 5 pm. Winds increasing with heavier bands of rain moving through at this time. NWS call of 1-2" of rain out here looks good. Winds are 20-30 mph with gust 35-40 mph. I don't think wind going to be a major factor this far west. TalcottWx
Its pouring like a mofo in Towson... Trees swaying... rain being thrown into my 13th floor window with gusts.. Gotta be gusting between 30-
nj2va
Some nice gusts in the past 30 minutes. I had .5" an hour ago but I'm using a coffee can (do I just use a ruler)? If the can was slimmer, the total would be higher so I don't really get it. Dumb question, I know.
WinterWxLuvr
How is it down there? Got your boats out yet? Looks heavy on radar. Back here, we occasionally get a band that breaks loose. When they come, the rain is heavy. It just doesn't last long. Edit: Up to near half an inch here. Wasn't expecting much. Hopeful of 1 inch total. rosemont/old town
Old town/rosemont has seen increasing wind and rain the past hour. Some very high gusts and the old trees look saturated, should be an interesting evening. I would be very surprised if we have not had more than an inch already.
