ag3
Stepped outside of my house and right away a tree snapped in half on a house. Looked down the block and saw at least 2 more down over houses. Here's a cell phone pic. Will drive around Astoria soon and snap many pics.

SnowGoose69
Trying to calm down the parents right now, they're in a fit over the neighbor's tree which caused all 402 outages according to LIPA in their town, its apparently resting on the wires and they're worried because the idiot nearby neighbors are letting their kids roam the street by it and someone will get zapped. Their goal I'm sure is to get LIPA to prioritize them, but of course they have been told about 500 people have called with the same issue.

AlexP
Looks like the downgrade is about to happen. NHC said landfall at Coney Island as a TS.

Pressure is dropping at JFK. NWS Bulletin states that it crossed Coney Island....as a Tropical Storm. So, a landfall still hasn't made landfall in NYC since the early 1800's. A-L-E-X
Wow Bill Evans is trying to spin it..... he said the SS scale was developed for Miami and does not work in the northeast because of the "right angle" topography and that the pressure should be the judge of it's true strength. Goldberg backed him up.

BayShore
2,000+ without power in Bay Shore. Went off around 730am. Got the generator and 3G hot spot cranking right now, I'm in biz. One tree down in front of the house, I'm thinking a main transformer blew up the road - no major line damage that I can see. Strong, strong, steady winds still. Best of all no flooding - in a mandatory evac location.
Cfa
You guys know Brooklyn is in NYC right? LOL. Lol yes, Hurricane Landfall though. If this eye wasn't lagging so far behind we could've had a historic event. This is the only disappointment I have. Still a pretty strong TS though. Ridingtime
This was a big meh for me in Kew Garden Hills. The tornado last year did 10x's more damage than this. So far I've seen a couple of branches down here and there, a bit windy but nothing crazy, and there may have been one big gust that I can remember that made a noise. And the sun is actually coming out now in spots. Moving on...
