Ill never forget this storm. I kept asking people in here if were in a f0 when there was nothing detected on radar....conditions outside seemed tornadic. Then 2 minutes later we are under a tornado warning.

away as in out to sea or away as in knocked down and emberassed?

the latter...:yikes: the barrier broke down and this water came rushing through towards the road... probably about a foot or two and she got knocked down and was dragged (inland) by a few feet... there were some people that helped her out though...

EDIT: power just went out by about 30secs... back again though thank GOD...

There's a ton of flooding on Long Island, both flash flooding from rain and also surge. I saw videos out of Huntington with water near the tops of cars and rushing down the streets like rapids!

Route 110 North of Main St. where that video was shot floods in the summer with big thunderstorms. That area is the lowest point in Huntington.

The news reporters on these major U.S. networks need to get they're stuff together, their hyping storm surges 6 hours from now when everyone's winds will be offshore. This is part of the reason people think forecasts are bad sometimes, the bottom line is outside of remnant water sitting in the streets the greatest threat for rising waters is in the next 2-3 hours.

Sustained wind 52mph and Gust to 67mph at LGA, at 4:10am:

0410 AM TROPICAL STORM NYC/LA GUARDIA 40.78N 73.88W 08/28/2011 QUEENS NY ASOS SUSTAINED WIND OF 52 MPH MEASURED

0410 AM NON-TSTM WND GST NYC/LA GUARDIA 40.78N 73.88W 08/28/2011 M67 MPH QUEENS NY ASOS ASOS

Yup. Me, Cat, Whiteout and Mulen all felt that. I was gonna post that winds looked close to 70mph, but wasn't sure. This confirms it.
