Again, there are no reports from the east side of the center. So you wont see the strong wind reports until that area hits NYC and LI.

NHC still finding 80mph sustained winds on their last report.

Those on Manhattan may actually see a big lull in the winds as the center approaches, only to see it pick back up and continue to get 50, 60, 70 MPH gusts later in the day....what I am interested to see is when the west side of the storm slams into LI and Conneticut....I am wondering if there still are 80-100 MPH gusts in that quadrant of the storm?

Just an observation for you guys, that I know has been discussed probably...however, you are going to get raked by high winds all day tomorrow, probably for a bunch of hours even after it stops raining.

Just going on obs from Moorhead City at about midnight tonight, they had an hourly op of 30 MPH sustained AND 75 MPH gusts....very odd to see that.....I wonder if this is an Ike type situation, where even where there is no rain there is so much energy that those strong UL winds are making it to the surface?

In DC, the rain has stopped, eye has passed north of Ocean City, but still plenty of wind. Hasn't really reduced from a few hours ago, when there was more rain with it. So,yes, the backside, at least the early backside, still has wind

OK Amy Freeze is a total moron.... she called "spaghetti plot" "spaghetti plate"!

Before that she said lots of isobars packed close together on a map was "meteorology language" for a very quick moving storm and that we would clear quickly tomorrow. She stuttered on "meteorology" like three times.

Before that she had said that we could get hail tonight =\

One more final very weenie observation I've noticed...the east side of the storm hasn't really been over land since hatteras, and Hatteras had gusts over 90 with a storm that was 90 MPH sustained at the time....so again, that leads me to believe that all of Long Island is going to get hit pretty had when the center of the storm comes on shore....

Did she say when you guys expect a change over to Freezing Rain, and if the Snow line will work in from the north?
