Hey can anyone explain this phenomena I am experiencing. I have NE winds gusting to 28. I have a west facing apartment. I can actually open my window here on the 27th floor and get no breeze at all coming in. It is bizarre. It is like all the wind is low to the ground. The obvious answer to me is since I have a west facing vantage point no winds will effect my windows if they are out of the NE.

I'm experiencing something similar, I'm sitting at WNW facing window and I have only a small breeze, I can see that it's clearly much windier in front of me but it's just blowing to the left, no wind coming at me at all.

I'm not nearly that high up though.

Nothing crazy just yet here in SE Queens yet I keep reading surrounding areas are getting pummeled.

When do you think winds are going to pick up? And yah, Grill Point shwarma is the best. Even in Israel I have had a hard time finding a better shwarma.

I'm in Kew Gardens (southern part) and have been having pretty strong winds, which in the last few minutes have significantly picked up.

I think it is the west exposure. I am not used to winds blowing in this direction in the 6 years I have lived here. My windows start shaking when we have strong westerlies like after cold fronts, etc.

your obvious answer is the obvious answer.

my front door faces east. my back window faces west.

i open my front door and it's awesome out there....

back window, eh not so much.

Yeah, I am thinking that all the time spent tracking this storm is turning my head into jello. Common sense. If I knew the winds would be out of the NE, I would not have bothered taping all my windows and I have 8 huge ones facing west. Could the winds shift and give me west winds reaching hurricane strength?

I guess sometime early this morning with the core. But if there isn't intense rainfall near the core it will be even harder to mix down the strongest winds.

I would love to know current obs from places along the MD peninsula/coastal Delaware to see what type of punch she's still packing.
