Absolute Humidity
Just saw transformer cook in the distant, still have power, my town centrally located is resilient to power outages. Got plenty of gas for the genny - so long as the RV doesn't blow away. Freehold NJ

nzucker
Not much excitement here in Dobbs Ferry NY....steady rain with light winds, no gusts apparent. Conditions resemble those of an ordinary rainy night, nothing more. -RA 73.7/

Wannabehippie
You weren't in an evac zone? Winds getting strong here in Long Beach (yeah, still in Long Beach). Branches/small trees swaying, and torrential rain. Probably 40-45 mph at this point.

Cyg
Plain vanilla S.E wind maybe 20kts steady rain some ponding i worry about twisters they give me the bugaboos. My friend saw a police car slide off the palisades pkwy about a half hour ago. Couldn't have said it better myself. lol Heavy rain here, been like that for hours now, some wind gusts but it's really not been that bad so far. I'm really hoping it stays relatively unimpressive for the sake of the 10 trees in and around the property. New Providence, NJ

mempho
Deluge here. Winds unimpressive. I remember being unimpressed with Ivan for the longest time. I was outside walking into the only gas station open when the eyewall suddenly roared in with no warning. I had no power and noone knew where the center was anymore. dbc
Hey can anyone explain this phenomena I am experiencing. I have NE winds gusting to 28. I have a west facing apartment. I can actually open my window here on the 27th floor and get no breeze at all coming in. It is bizarre. It is like all the wind is low to the ground. The obvious answer to me is since I have a west facing vantage point no winds will effect my windows if they are out of the NE.
Stormlover74
Winds have started picking up here in the last few minutes. Radar would almost appear that this is the worst of it now and for a couple more hours then we get a break. Maybe we never get the really high winds or if we do its on the backside as it's departing quite heavy rain. Wind isn't exactly doing it just yet... No but I could really use a shwarma from Grill Point right about now. Same conditions as you here in Whitestone. Those coops and Queens College especially are on a little bit of a hill so if anyone's going to see the best winds around there it will be them.
