I think its probably more trees in Richmond for sure being the issue. I've been there before and at least recall my hotel was surrounded by quite a few trees.

Was just going to say that, absolutely but the Ric obs show the extent of the wind field.

Man,the damage in Wildwood and along the shore will be ridiculous. I hope everyone down (and our house) stays safe!

If the center comes ashore over Cape May Atlantic City is in major trouble. As I had posted 2 days ago that pier extension with stores and restaurants they built off Trump wil almost certainly be gone and there could be severe damage to some of the boardwalk establishments. I'm not sure if the surge will quite be severe enough for the hotels to sustain damage or not.

The scenes from Ocean City, Maryland are very concerning for our area beaches. About three hours ago they had water almost to the dunes which separate the beach from the hotels and streets.

I noticed in HPC's 0z 2day total they have shifted the heaviest axis a little west with the axis across eastern PA up thru western to NW NJ up to eastern NY. 7-9" along that axis.

I saw this trend earlier today.Thats why I said NYC on East is not going to see the brunt of the rainfall. We are still going to get flooding downpours here but not to the extent of to our west and NW.

Goldberg said the center looks a lot healthier now that it has emerged just offshore, he said he could see it be an 85 mph hurricane when it hits up here. That doesn't sound too good for us. I believe that is how strong the 1893 hurricane was when it made landfall here upon reanalysis.

THe center does appear to be jogging N maybe ever so slightly NNW but maybe that i just the way I see it.

I'm going to go with the theory that the center, absent of strong influences, goes with the path of least resistance, and that would be just off shore or right on the coast.

Center is actually now a definable eye on radar and appears to have taken a brief NE jog... also--the RUC is always unreliable & does rather incorrect dramatic moves with winter events... not sure how it is in summer, but..

Yup looks slightly stronger lol.

BTW they were talking about how high rises are impacted by winds..... basically, if you're on the tenth floor, add a category, if you're on the fiftieth floor, add TWO categories. I hope no one is on the fiftieth floor of a building. It looks like there's going to be a lot of broken glass tomorrow morning, a la Wilma in Miami.
