Center looking a bit better on IR. Seeing a consisant spot that seems like an eye forming again perhaps?

The microwave imagery doesn't look impressive for that... It has a weakly bounded eye in the NE -N of the centeral axis, but it also completely exposed on the S-W sides.   It has a band out side of that, though, and band further out yet. So the 3 in fact

Hard to say what processes are causing that - but the type of eye (I suspect) you are looking for there's not much evidence of that at the moment.

Yes. I presume you can see the difference from Irene to the birdies (bird people often can't but I'm sure you weather people can). They all pick up for nocturnal migration after sunset.

Sorry for OT but it is an Irene effect for sure. They're smart. The exodus from the tri-state area is fantastic against the southerly flow on August 26. They're going away from the coast, too, instead of hugging it or even leaving from it as some species do. The far-reaching effects of a hurricane, really spectacular. This is unbelievable.

I better make sure the car windows are closed...wow

Someone more experienced with the models want to chime in? Nam actually looks west a little?

I think people are getting tired? The guys that get paid to do this do it in shifts, then don't think about it if they don't have to otherwise. Many of the mets on here, I don't know when they sleep as it is.

Anyone else think the latest recon center fixes are showing too much of an easterly component to the track for a true coastal hugger? It's hard to tell, but it's pretty solidly NNE

I'd rather it just scrape OBX than hug the coast.

LOL

They're not birds. Its the radar changing modes.

What are you talking about? This is what I do. This is what many people do. Those are all birds launching after sunset. I would know, thanks...but that's very basic common knowledge.

Changing modes makes radar pick up all sorts of little dots flying in specific directions, LOL you :arrowhead:

Nope, no birds covering the sky.

It's too far west even in first 6 hours

Yeah, agreed. Its track doesn't match up with the current movement of the storm. It wants to take this almost W of Morehead City and Irene would have to take a hell of a left turn right now for that to happen.

This isn't like a joke, right? You do understand how radar works and how birds fly very high up? Go listen, you may hear a flight call.

Here I thought a weather expert could understand basic radar things...what is all that stuff then? Rain? Maybe snow! You know the only rain the radar picks up is the stuff hitting you in the face, OH YES, that's right.

Etc., etc. This is such basic knowledge, really sir? Wow. This is sad.
