dryslot
Gloria was nastier into the interior and west along the south coast in CT. Bob was bad from SE RI over to CC and I guess up into your area...but I admittedly know very little about how bad Maine has been impacted by different storms. Yeah, The impact from Bob was a 7 day loss of power here, Gloria basically had little impact as far as wind and power loss, But there has been so few that have made it here that there really is not a lot of data to pour over... HarveyLeonardFan
fair enough. i don't share that sentiment. For areas that are prone to storm surge I do share your sentiments and I don't want to minimize that aspect...but I'm like Kevin, I like the wind. powderfreak
Oh I'm sure I'll be posting from my iPhone if that happens. Hopefully any power issues are limited to a day or two. Not if this whole death and destruction thing plays out, haha. If it all breaks right, maybe a week or so without power? Just considering how long it takes to clean up an ice storm that only effects elevations above 800ft... I would imagine 50-70mph winds for a sustained period of time would do similar damage, just a lot more widespread. But it doesn't really matter... its the warm season so you're pipes won't freeze, you can swim in rivers or lakes to clean yourself, BBQ for food, etc. I'd definitely trade a week without power in the summer for a direct hit from a hurricane. snowNH
I'll probably get my best severe of the year tomorrow cause I'm not paying attention to it. Nice line right now in NY. Just the beginning of an amazing weekend.

Hambone
Chelmsford Mass was whacked by Bob. I had 6 huge oaks dumped on my house, no power for 2 days. Gloria, nothing.

Only thing I want to keep running is the sump pump...hope I have better luck tomorrow. New England Home Depots are getting shipments from the midwest tomorrow. Just keep calling back to ask your local when they'll be in. Selection will most likely be 5000 watt Husky's. My neighbor works for them and that's the story he gave me. snowNH
Well all day i've been feeling a bit of anxiety about this storm...but right now I have come to the conclusion I am going to have to grin and bear it and just make the best of a bad situation. Then afterwards I can say I experienced a hurricane, but I am just worried about the devastation that even just the rain is going to create. I think if people made it through 1938, we'll be fine in 2011.
