Ginx snewx
Well that's good. Glad your house will be ok and this storm will work for you. What about the majority of us that it won't be ok for? I seriously don't get the excitement about the devastation this thing will reap upon millions of people. This storm if it makes landfall will undoubtably injure and kill people. It could ruin people financially if their insurance riders don't cover damage to their homes. Seriously I know some are excited, but just stop and think of the ramifications and havoc this thing will bring upon your neighbors, friends, family and property if this track holds. Guess I need to repost this Our wired fetish with the extreme has dire consequences but it's what we do. As a homeowner and having a very large family and network of friends still near the beach, it's not something I would ever want, yet there is this creepy side of me that sees a Cat 4 near HAT that says hmmmm. Logan11
The irony is that people like Pete can't go wrong here. If his houses are half destroyed, all his clients will use their insurance money to hire him for the rebuilding. This could end of being SNE's own regional government stimulas program as the FEMA money rolls in. I think all the Tea Party people etc. should refuse to accept any federal funds - standing on principal. I heard Pete built that house.
weatherwiz
I can't find my TV remote so I'm unable to change channels so I didn't see it but a friend told me Bob Maxon says he believes the eye will cross through central CT and we can see winds of 75-95 mph with gusts to 100 mph. CoastalWx
You mean because it was so far west? Yeah. That seems to be the absolute western outlier. But who knows this far out, maybe it has a clue..but it seems pretty far west. Still think we see it lose a little longitude in the final 60hrs or so. We'll see. Clinch Leatherwood
I have a feeling we may be laughing at the euro in about 72 hrs. Or perhaps I'll be laughing at this comment.<br /GFS is going east of the 0z, and is faster NE of the 6z. NAM at 12z was a decent signal of what was to come in the globals I suspect. Now...which models do we believe...tropical models in the westerlies or global models on TCs? GFS should be damn scary unless it hooks NW.

Logan11
To me ..Irene has been a fairly unexciting cane. Borderline cat 3, but I have seen much more impressive ones. If it hits SNE though even as a cat 1, it becomes a big deal because we almost never get them in such a populous northern area. I wonder if this big mature expansive system can ever tighten and deepen to more than its peak 115 sustained now. Baroclinic Zone
Yeah. That seems to be the absolute western outlier. But who knows this far out, maybe it has a clue..but it seems pretty far west. Still think we see it lose a little longitude in the final 60hrs or so. We'll see. I made the comment yesterday when the Euro jumped so far west. It was a break in continuity from previous runs but sometimes the Euro latches onto an idea that inevitably is right before all other guidance catches it. Again, who knows. CoastalWx
I see your keeping your options open. Kind of have to at this point, but until the euro proves right, I think it will be too far west.
