thanks...pretty decent shelf cloud tonight in Evans. I was out there with my dad for a gun club meeting. It looks worse than what ended up happening, but ended up with decent lightning and heavy rain...very little wind.

Definitly looked more impressive on radar. Picked up just under a half inch of rain from thag squall line and a smaller cell that moved through a few hours sooner.

First flakes of the season could fall this weekend across the higher elevations of the southerntier according to the NWS BUF AFD

APPEARS THAT SNOW LEVELS WILL DROP

TO AROUND 15K FEET OR MAYBE EVEN LOWER...ACROSS WESTERN SECTIONS.

WE WOULD NOT RULE OUT SOME SNOW MIXING IN AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS

AND COULD EASILY SEE GRAUPEL AT LOWER ELEVATIONS. NO ACCUMULATION

IS EXPECTED.

It has cooled off some. With that said, since Irene,it has been plain boring weather wise kinda stuck in the.....meh.....frame right now. Looks like it will be at least another 30 years for another hurricane, tropical storm, major mess maker....to hit us up here again....I am ready for major snow storms and blizzards......

28.0F this morning. Say goodbye, garden.

At 1540', I'm 100 foot above the valley floor (the nearby Little Delaware River) and 1000' below the highest terrain -- and not much else around.

One of the "normally colder rural valleys"...
