Hoosier
It was actually strong enough that I left my building (mainly because I figured a brick apartment building in Pennsylvania wasn't built to withstand ANY kind of earthquake shaking), but that was probably silly. I'm back inside now. Question for you or other earthquake junkies. Are there any known faults in the area where it hit?

A-L-E-X
I felt it up here also. My whole house was shaking! It's weird that I haven't felt any of the quakes we've had centered on Long Island before, but I felt this one strongly! It was my first earthquake! A-L-E-X
? While it was happening, I was thinking, "Well, this better be an earthquake, because the alternative would be that my house is about to collapse." LOL
SeNJWx
Felt in Central NJ near Trenton as well, started with a little vibration (a "tap, tap noise from somewhere), then all of a sudden strong shaking, felt like the building was going to collapse! A swaying and a jerking motion. Cat went crazy. Never felt anything like it before

NaoPos
? Sirens went off for about 5 mins here in sea isle after the quake. Then boats started docking... Maybe it was for boats to come in?
HurricaneJosh
Bedrock in the east is a lot more efficient at transporting shockwaves than out west. I was just thinking that. I'm surprised something of this size was felt over such a wide area. In CA, quakes of this size happen out in the desert all the time, and we don't feel them unless they're pretty close to the city, or at least in the Inland Empire. The 6.7 we had in 1994 was centered in the city, so of course we felt that really nicely.
