HurricaneJosh
Was two distinct periods here. First one was relatively minor, then a pause for a few seconds, then stronger shaking (made my computer screen shake). Are those the p and s waves? Or vice versa? Yes. Usually the first waves are more mild and they give you a chance to duck and cover before the heavier stuff comes. Now, if you're right at the epicenter, you just get slammed all at once, and there's no difference-- whereas the further you are from the center, the more time there is between the P and S waves. Inudaw
Yea that was pretty awesome. Shaking was the first thing to notice.. Also the the distinct rumbling noise as well. I think i might not been affected as much as other because I live near the Airport... first thought was a low flying airplane.. that produce similar affects.. but it last longer and the rumbling was also different.. mattie g
Note to self: next time earthquake hits... don't be in a building in Baltimore Or in a shabbily constructed converted dorm on a government installation. Not a comfortable feeling at all. But cool.

mattie g
My building actually swayed. At first, I thought it was someone moving furniture or something above us, but as soon as I felt the movement, I told everyone to "get the hell out!" Bob Chill
I like earthquakes at lot better than snowstorms and hurricanes. I didn't have to agonize over 50 models runs just to be worn out and disappointed. Earthquakes just happen. That shizzle is cool.

mappy
I won't lie, I thought at first a truck hit my building. Then when the second shake occurred, I just sat in my cube and went "awesome" while my coworkers are running out of the building.
