thewxmann
Watching CNN reruns right now. Chad Meyers/CNN expect ground zero to be flooded by storm surge and for Irene to move up the Hudson River. TARGET: NEW YORK! Worst storm since 2005! A real catastrophe! omg! lol Chad Meyers
dan88
Second dropsonde error of the night, we should probably be concerned about the 700mb low . From the NOAA aircraft sampling north of Irene.
on_wx
Who is this CNN International meteorologist live on air saying it looks like Irene is weakening and may just clip Cape Hatteras? And to top it all off, Chad was on just seconds before her calling this the worst NYC hurricane threat since 1938 and predicting the subways to flood. Watch the pressure and watch the eye next 24 hours as it comes into prime area for development!!!! http://twitter.com/B...035491840430080 Please dont misunderstand this. The lower wind with pressure that low is the storm adjusting before tightening. Public should not let down Warm water in the way and pics show spreading apart again of cirrus north of storm.. this is not done deepening Should get to 930 mb

Dunkman
I was really surprised to see the downgrade at 5am just a couple hours after a dropsonde yielded the strongest surface winds yet measured in Irene (94 kts. had been measured on Wednesday). Not that it isn't deserved, just puzzling.

Those storms are much more analogous to Irene in structure than any of that nonsense he is spewing.

JamieOber
Because it was an East Coast beltway centric forum of people who worked for the government or who depended on the government or their workers, and despised working people in 'flyover country'? Look at Bo, even being gay isn't good enough if you're not a party line Leninist who despises the petit bourgeosis. Or, heaven forbid, live with the dirty finger nail riff raff in Indiana. Riptide
I was really hoping for a consistent inner core and well-defined eye, Irene cannot seem to get it right even when she was in Bahamas. NHC is forecasting slight restrengthening though.

Roy
Remarkable that yet another storm craps out before landfall. We keep getting off easy, but it won't last forever. Still, this will be bad as big as she is with the surge.
