I can already see the big fat red arrow on one of Accuwx's dumb promo maps pointing Irene right at NYC..."PANTS CRAPPINGLY CATASTROPHIC MEGA-HURRICANE IRENE AIMS FOR NORTHEAST"

Really, whatever they have to do to draw people into the article and give them ACTUAL information after dragging them in, idc. I grew up in the tri-state, so on my FB the majority of the people on it are from the area, and none of them are really even talking about it, or care? Is it not being talked about up there at all? idgi.

Yeah, whats your point?

I can't tell you, but this is a compliments only forum.

Word of advice, call sarcasm on th 1000s dead statement. If you want to make a balsy call call for sunshine in NYC on monday like me. Sure you'll get trolled but at least you'll be right.

man the live thread is dead. This is when discussion is important! Not when Irene is looking beautiful and 500 people post to inform us that indeed, Irene looks beautiful

I think most gave up even trying to post in there or the model thread, since 80% of the posts get deleted anyway.

At-least we could breathe a little here..

Yeah, well. That's what happens when there is over modification. Kills it.

Everyone sitting around waiting for someone else to post what they feel important to say.

I've talked to a few friends from that area today and they are completely unbothered by it. It worries me a little.

If any Mods are listening, a live webcams thread would be nice. People will only post functional live cams of beach locations directly in the path of Irene.

You guys are free to start more thread...

Cool.

Over modification.

Was not online for a couple of 3 hour stretches today cause of work...when I came back I was able to get useful info from all of the Irene threads without wanting to bash my head with a hammer. Please continue with the overmodification...

I will be fully documenting this storm from the Jersey Shore....between facebook videos filmed with the amazing iPhone and my secured totally rain protected fully charged mini dv video camera. I have three locations scouted right now..Point Pleasant Beach at my friends three blocks inland, Manasquan Beach on the beach at another friends, and Belmar Beach. There will be a lot of walking..there's no way in hell I'm leaving my car anywhere near the squan side of the beach....

Armed with a video camera, a media pass, and sandals, swim trunks, a bright blue WNEP news slicker, and lots of extra dry clothes at my friends house(s)

Yeah, bring it on....BRING IT ONNNNNNN..

(still anything more than what I saw with Earl last year will impress me)

NHC can give you that in 2 minutes. Discussion is the attraction here. At least it used to be.

I'm fine with discussion as long as its more than...

12z ECMWF

There was TONS of good discussion by degreed mets, and I was able to find it cause all of the

12z ECMWF

was deleted.

I'm totally cool with that kind of moderating.

I find I wind up being the one who brings it up, and people are like, "oh yeah, the hurricane.". That's about it. It is a very tricky forecast and no one local has gone condition alpo yet, so most people are pretty meh about it and pretty sure it will miss us. The last couple of winters around here have taught me that anything is possible and dreams can come true.

It came up at work today...like many of you I am "that weather guy" amongst my peers....problem is right now everyone is pretty much waiting for an out-to-sea shoe to drop....nobody seems aware that there are some serious scenarios on the table.

If it makes you feel any better, my colleagues started calling me Joe Bastardi because I hyped the threat today in our 3pm webcast.

NHC mets aren't the only mets out there. If you're someone who only checks in once or twice a day seeking info from knowledgeable posters, there's no way you can say that superthreads aren't cumbersome. Between the subforum threads and main forum threads, there is plenty of disco.
