audioguy3107
It's amazing.....the longer we go on, the more and more mesmerizing that dancing blue turd is. Sometimes it's hard to look away.....can you make the damn thing stationary?

dsaur
Since you brought it up http://crossville-ch...68309/Bundle-up That's great. I haven't been stung by yellow jackets this year...haven't even seen any of their caves...that's a sure sign of something I think it is big sleet coming...or it might mean they moved north to cool off. lilj4425
The blue turd is my trademark audioguy3107. Making it stationary or getting rid of it completely would be cruel and unusual punishment. LOL... Did you get any sleep last night? It shows that you joined at three in the morning. Haha...yeah I finally got to sleep at 5am in the morning. Had to study for a Chemistry test.

T Weird thing, I have had never had a problem with a yellow jacket until this summer. My family and I made a drive to Amacalola Falls and a yellow jacket popped my cousin on the leg through her blue jeans. We had to leave and spotted a warning sign, after the fact. Those suckers are bad ass.

Brick Tamland
He screws us all by over closing the website which caused the other higher-ups to create this website which we all have to join and then wants us to come back? Greg, my boy, you just haven't lived until you've done the yellow jacket dance...be standing over the nest unbeknownst to yourself, and feel that familiar burning on your legs from many multiples of bites...makes fire ants feel good!! Lol, I had a friend who was getting hit so hard he was slapping his arm with a crow bar, trying to kill the suckers. I've been here ten years and this is the first fall I haven't been savaged by the little horrors. No sign of them since Oct. Mosquitos too... Things are afoot I bet that kid from last year who was whiffing squirrel whizz, or whatever, to predict snow, would be calling for a huge big something T
weatherfide
Funny thing is, I had a nest in the lavender bushes out front all summer, but about a month ago, they disappeared. Completely gone. I didn't treat the nest or spray or anything. That's great. SnoJoe
My God, you can't even talk about the weather.......THE WEATHER...... without a bunch of drama. Really? I'm going start my own board, it'll be called " Northern Yancey County WX" . I'll be the sole Admin, Mod, and poster. No drama, just serious discussion about northern Yancey weather. I'll let you know when it's up and running. Anyhow, New Zealand was absolutely phenomenal. I've been everywhere but NZ is by far the most beautiful place on earth. I will own a house there one day soon. Australia was cool too but a let down after a week in paradise. It is nice to see the SE crew still intact though. Here's to a great winter season. Great to see you made your way back. I'm not sure what us SE folk would have done all winter long without getting regular updates from the frozen tundra of Yancy Co. NZ is an amazing place, my wife and I are saving up to go backpacking there in a couple of years. Hope you brought some picks home to share with us! Man, that would be incredible to backpack for a week. Pam is the photographer in the family, so I post a few pics when she gets them uploaded. We stayed in Hawks Bay at Cape Kidnappers (highly recommend, see link below) as our "base camp" but traveled most days by sea and bush plane. What a spectacular country! VeronicaCorningstone
Yay! It's good to see so many names I recognize from last winter...checked out Eastern a few weeks ago, just lurking around - then went back today and saw what had all gone down. At any rate, I'm looking forward to some great weather discussions this year. Tarheel67
Longtime Eastern lurker here, located in the heart of the Screw Zone, otherwise known as Charlotte. I guess I thought it might be time for the other weenies to start looking forward to the winter prospects and thought to check out Eastern right as the drama was unfolding. Guess I hadn't seen a need to go there when the forecast was "mild and sunny" for what seemed like 2 months. I was wondering how to cope with the withdrawal during winter when I saw there was a new home over here. It's really nice to see most of the names I recognize from over there pop up here - lots of good info in the past. BTW, anyone seen Matthew East? I've always enjoyed his blog and his posts "over there", and find the News 14 crew invaluable leading up to and during an event, be it severe or snow. I hope he finds his way over here too.
