ChrisM
They have the degrees but no social skills... Speaking of mets, where has Will been? The best is the mod am19PSU. Tells people to start reading more and posting less (I think that's SO rude...like telling someone to stop talking in real life) and he banned me over the winter because my avatar looked like I was peeing I guess even though it was a picture of me skiing. Interesting people out there outside the NE section.
HoarfrostHubb
Good lord, it's amazing how much better our mods are in our little NE section than some of the other ones on this site. Funny someone else noticed this above. Weird, didn't even notice til I started typing and scrolled up I will not post in the main thread for fear of being bashed by some pointy headed geek who has never been laid. ChrisM
I will not post in the main thread for fear of being bashed by some pointy headed geek who has never been laid. same, even though even here I always get the "what do you know you're only 20" comments all the time. Makes me feel like I should never really say anything even around here.
ChrisM
What is with you and peeing? UConn, am19PSU, the list is growing Dude, in my self defense the UConn thing was me peeing in the woods, a party happened to get busted next to where I was and a cop ran up to me thinking I was there. He let me go on my merry way after I told him I was coming back from work and needed a quick relief.
mattmfm
18z tropicals look nice. Looks like there is growing divergence between one camp (GFS, NGFDL, NOGAPS) that brings it to HTS and shoots it NE, and the other (Euro, HWRF) that landfalls in SC and continues it NNW inland. ORH_wxman
The most interesting weather we see out of this is likely to be a possible flooding threat.

Early call: Irene slams into NC/SC border CAT3 then scrapes New England ala Noel.
mattmfm
Definitely not the trend anyone looking for a SNE landfall should be hoping for Setup is just off, second trough doesn't dig nearly far enough to tug Irene N/NNE.
dendrite
Right over CT Blizz's fanny at 168hr. I'd love this track/speed simply for the rain totals up here.

CT Rain
Takes 24 hours to move Irene from landfall in NC to SNE coastline So unbearably slow. 18z GFS is the perfect track for us in this situation I think.

wxeyeNH
Takes 24 hours to move Irene from landfall in NC to SNE coastline So unbearably slow. SLOW is the key. Less wind more rain. Flooding potential is huge. Thankfully things are pretty dry right now in New England so the basins can take quite a bit. If Irene makes it up here the media is going to go crazy all week with how to prepare but I just don't see anyway we can get widespread wind damage with such a slow moving system drifting up the coast. mattmfm
18z GFS is the perfect track for us in this situation I think. Flooding western NE, winds and coastal flooding for the coastline...sort of a Gloria-esque track north of HST. We'll see if the GFS continues to weaken the shortwave a bit on 00z. I'd suggest everyone read more from him and post less I'm content reading only in the big thread, and I understand the mods' responsibilities. And most of the mets are great and are providing some excellent info. Some are pretty nasty to each other and to other folks. I personally think am19PSU does a good job. mattb65
Some of you will always say no hurricane hitting sne area . This has very good chance of hitting us . I don't doubt that we may have a strong impact but I think it would have a really hard time still being a hurricane by the time it gets here since it seems like it'll have to at least hit part of NC if it's going to hit SNE with a second impact. It would have to perfectly thread the needle scraping Cape Hatteras and zoom up NNE to still be at hurricane strength. Having said that, 18Z GFS is pretty pornographic and could possibly bring hurricane gusts and sustained tropical force winds to SNE verbatim. mattmfm
Really a beautiful vis. satellite as the sun is setting. I'm curious to see whether the eastward verification continues tonight. We've really yet to see the track verify to the west of model guidance thus far. And the current position already appears decently east of the forecast track.
