ptb127
Not overboard... You need to be safe rather then sorry plus you have to consider safety of their workers and families. How far west in E PA does the HVY rains get?
goombatommy
http://philadelphia....mergency-plans/ SEPTA said it will be suspending service on all bus, trolley, subway and train lines in the five-county area as of 12:30AM Sunday morning. The transit agency said it would resume service after the storm passed and the situation could be evaluated. Wouldn't 12:30 am be close to or at the height of the storm though? How far west in E PA does the HVY rains get? Hard to say for us, ptb...2.00"-4.00" maybe?
goombatommy
Hard to say for us, ptb...2.00"-4.00" maybe? From what's been gathered it looks like a very tight precip gradient. The difference in who gets what can be dramatic even if its 15 - 20 miles either way.
Birds~69
Hard to say for us, ptb...2.00"-4.00" maybe? The cutoff line appears to be super sharp...2-4" sounds about right IMO.
Boch23
nutter... ALL SEPTA WILL BE SHUT DOWN MIDNIGHT SAT.... WOW You mean its not gonna keep running like in the winter storms the past couple of years and run delays of up to 90 mins (for trians at least)? I'm shocked............. chrisNJ
I am glad I live on a hill in the highest point of my subdivision in Palmer. no flooding worries here. The winds are my concern. I plan on removing any loose objects and may even take down my patio set, just in case. Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm becoming quite eerily concerned about us Easton folks; on the delaware, low-lying roads and buildings. soadforecaster
This hurricane is looking weak on vapor radar. Wouldnt b surprised if it was only a cat one when it makes land fall
Ralph Wiggum
Soad agreed. Nothing to really make it intensify rapidly. Its slow movement over the same areas for 2-3 days has cooled the Gulf Stream waters where she's located.

goombatommy
That could still mean lots of rainfall, right? A lot of rainfall - yes, tons of it. However - maybe not quite approaching the historic amounts that are anticipated in some areas. Who knows, honestly what will happen.

I would agree with him if this was on a weekday rush hour issue.
atownwxwatcher
Still a Category 2 Hurricane so this is nothing to sneeze at with heavy heavy rain and the potential for strong gusty winds to tropical storm force!. A state of emergency has been declared for PA ECM also looks mighty interesting as well and it has come around to showing the correct pressures as well. Who knows, honestly what will happen. I wouldn't start correlating lower intensity with lower rainfall. Some of our worst flooding events have been with weakening tropical storms. LocoAko
Of greater concern is smaller basins, Lehigh, Raritan, Passaic, etc... I would get the hell away from any of these rivers. I'll be "riding out" the storm just off of Cook Campus... I'll be sure to be perched up on Antilles Field watching the river come Sunday and Monday... on the banks of the ol' Raritan.
