Analog96
The orientation of the line of thunderstorms over Central PA does not have me excited. These features have a tendency to drop southeast over time and that would leave us high and dry and/or with updraft blowoff. We need the shortwave and forcing to develop new storms to the north and east of that feature in order to get the significant wind damage threat to drop into our area. Watch the storms currently approaching the Trenton area. I think those are our storms.
earthlight
main forcing is with the severe line north of the area, we may get spilt in the middle today. definitely a possibility based on the current depiction. Still plenty of time and the main forcing is also way back to the west so if we don't get stuff this afternoon...we could throw up a hail mary with a late evening line of storms as well. earthlight
Watch the storms currently approaching the Trenton area. I think those are our storms. It's possible. There's a significant amount of low level turning that has been pushing these storms almost due north as they reach New Jersey.
Analog96
It's possible. There's a significant amount of low level turning that has been pushing these storms almost due north as they reach New Jersey. That's basically our shot. I think the corridor from Passaic, NJ, up to Westchester and Fairfield may have already had their storms, and find themselves in a screw zone later, while further upstate into CNE get hit hard. earthlight
The MCS type feature over Central PA is beginning to look a bit better. I'd have to think that if it continues east that it would eventually run into the more unstable air that we've been building now with the full sun. Newark is 86/69 with SW winds on the latest OB..so the morning weak shortwave/convection did not turn the winds southeast..which would have been able to inhibit stuff later on. Air still has a tropical feel and the shortwave is still back over Central PA. I'm not fully confident we get slammed...but it's not looking too shabby right now. We will see....should be a fun afternoon tracking this with you guys.
