first time thats been in there

...PROBABILITY OF TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE CONDITIONS... THE CHANCE FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS VERY SMALL. ALSO...THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS UP TO 65 PERCENT. THIS REPRESENTS A GENERAL STEADY TREND SINCE THE LAST FORECAST. THE ONSET OF TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS COULD START AS EARLY AS SATURDAY MORNING.

MoCo folks and people in general are really starting to piss me off. I guess it's partially the medias fault.

I was just at a gas station where midday is usually empty or one or two cars - today there were lines 3 cars deep. While pumping gas I heard two separate women call it "tornado Irene" and then they proceeded to act like MoCo was going to cease to exist by Sunday morning.

I then heard a man say that it was starting tonight in the DC area.

Tried to go to the store to get something for lunch and the lines were halfway back into the store. To be quite honest - from DC west this isn't going to be super bad. I could understand if I lived in St. Mary's. For some reason, people think that when the forecast for "Mid-Atlantic Beaches" is bad...that means DC too. I missed the memo when DC got changed to the beach.

Exaaactly. Bought some gas last night. Wife got groceries this morning early, a few odds and ends. 's all good, just going out to dinner tonite and enjoying life. I feel sorry for people who aren't capable of paying better attention to the world around them, namely, weather. Or are happy getting spoon-fed a media product without doing any of their own independent thought.

I agree. people act as if we're in low country NC. As long as I can get to 7-Eleven, I'll be straight. What do I need a full tank of gas for? I have 3 hospitals in under 10 miles from my house, countless restaurants and grocery stores under 3 miles, and a 7-eleven within walking distance. So, I'm straight. The only rush that is understandable is to buy generators because Pepco sucks.

To be quite honest - despite the couple people I know in the local media (this is not directed at them), the DC media is really helping to instill fear.

FWIW 12Z GFDL is east... Goes up through Delmarva to east of Philly. Still produces large amounts of rain.

That's still west of the consensus track, however. It's track up the west side of the Bay into central NY was a total outlier. Now it's much more in line with the consensus.

Just watch the dams. If you live downstream from one of those you want to always keep that in mind. Especially during the first heavy rainfall event following a quake.
