32 calls from residents for sandbags today. I thank DC and Fairfax County for propagating that expectation. They issue 5 bags per person.

someone just asked on CWG...

sburbanI still want to know where I can obtain sandbags in Montgomery County. So far none of the relevant Websites is publishing this info, nor is NPR broadcasting it.

I think you just get the bag. Not the sand :) We have always wondered what a resident can do with 5 bags.

i would think very few need sandbags given the wind trajectory... sheeple. :(

Agreed, and that's just the start. I didn't even mention the 10 calls for evacuation info and shelters. As a result of the calls, I think we will open 3 shelters for tomorrow.

people should just hang out inside if it rains.. or wear a poncho.

Why the discrepency between forecasts (Last time I checked, DC is considered to be the I-95 Corridor...) . - HM states:

Henry Margusity Fan ClubRainfall rates as Irene moves north will be a 1/2 to 1" per hour. That's why we are going to see up to 10 inches of rain up the I-95 corridor.

Of course, he's not calling for 10 inches in DC per se, but surely he's insinuating heavier amounts than say the 0.5 to 3 inches Capital Weather has forecast for DC....?

Waiting for the new HLS... but def was not expecting that for them

Why not? Isn't it typical for them to post hurricane warnings for counties bordering waterways that have hurricane warnings? - NHC posted hurricane warning up to Drum Point at 11am advisory.

I didnt realize Drum Point was that far north to include St. Mary's County. Plus I guess I was also just surprised that they moved the Hurricane Warning up northward to Drum Point.

Plus Talbot/Caroline counties that border the Chesapeake Bay north of Drum Point on the western side where just upgraded to Hurricane Warnings by Mt. Holly.

Meh.. maybe I need to step back and get lunch
