It's interesting seeing how from Sunday until now, each day a different crew is desperately hoping for a 5-day track to hold on... even as the forecast track gets nudged east each cycle. 5 days : )

And NOAA threw out the 1944 bone. I'm sort of happy to be less and less emotionally involved.

I hear you. The really frustrating part, though, is that after Irene makes its most western excursion, it really moves mostly north. There does not appear to be a sharp recurve like so often happens. Soooooo if Irene can get just alittle further west, DC area would not be shut out. Just 50-75 miles would make a huge difference.

I'm not saying that we are going to get a storm... but totally giving up on this 5 days out and 100 miles or so from a good hit is irrationalaxesmiley.png

I agree - but at the same time you have to realize that the actual track was verifying consistently NE of the NHC forecast track positions - this coupled with the fact that every model has been trending significantly east should raise the flag.

i'll be slightly annoyed if it slams the northeast and we get a shower.. i guess it might wreck my cape cod plans labor day weekend if its not careful. if i had to bet it would still be east but maybe not enough for all of new england? i guess they are due--as was tip.

If everyone in DC wishes it back west tonight we might get a 15 mile shift. Let us do it.

Pressure is down to 969mb according to main wx side thread.

I want some west trend tonight - lets all join hands and maybe we can get some excitement.

Hopefully it goes east. We can't take any more New England joy.

At this point I'm rooting for it to head further east...if New England gets in on the action, I'll probably leave the board for a few days. They steal our snow, their top severe weather event of 2011 back in June tops our "top" event, and now they steal our tropical systems. sad.gif
